My wife had to have a pituitary tumor removed. The doctors and nurses were ok but I got a call from billing before the surgery telling me I could save 20% if I prepay. I knew we had an out of pocket max and was prepared to pay it. I should have questioned why they would give me a deal like this. I paid it only to find out months later that the money I paid was not reported to my insurance for many months. This resulted in us not reaching our out of pocket max until very late in the year. So now we're expected to pay for charges that came in after we'd already hit our out of pocket max months ago. If you self pay you won't get credit for it from your insurer until the hospital files claims on it. We've been fighting this battle most of 2023. Don't take my word for it. See the complaints at the BBB. Most are the same. Deceptive, sketchy billing practices are commonplace with this so-called faith based hospital system. If you decide to use them, DON"T PAY ANYTHING UP FRONT!!! MAKE THEM FILE CLAIMS WITH YOUR INSURANCE FOR EVERY DOLLAR!! The reason they do this is more money. To be in your network they have to agree to take a lesser amount in the contract. They can offer you a 20% discount and make more money than the contracted amount. Then they hold your payment to see how much your insurer is going to pay and apply your payment later when it benefits them. They split my payment into two parts and applied the two amounts at different times weeks apart! They even kept my wife in ICU for 4 days saying a room wasn't available. I can't know if that's true but the charges for the ICU stay are much more expensive than a regular room. Consider this fair warning! It's a shame that good doctors who probably aren't aware of the sketchy billing are considered guilty by association for the hospital's deceptive billing practices.

Biliing office is terrible. Usually takes 25-30 minutes to speak to anyone.
Call January 9th to resolve billing issue. Issue has still not been resolved. Spoke to several (5) people. Last time was told a supervisor would call. No call.
They say âYou call is important to usâ. It’s obvious thats not true.
Must be way understaffed

I will never visit another Bon Secours hospital in my life. From staff that copped attitudes, to having to by my own doppler and water (hospital claimed they actually ran out of water), I will NEVER return. My wife has changed 95% of her doctors from Bon Secours to Prisma and is likely changing the last one. And do not even get me started on their billing – I have been fighting for months over a bill they keep sending to the wrong insurance provider. While a minority, the lazy and rude staff more than outweigh the good staff.
Oh, and pay your CNAs more. They were the only ones that were consistently kind and helpful.

Overall it is a very bad emergency department . Services are extremely delays. Total stuff if lazy and would rather have you sit in the lobby for hours then transfer you to a room and sit for several more hours . Ewing over 8 hours not offered water or anything f just piss poor and will do all never come back
