Mother was taken to the local emergency room this past weekend. We were told she needed an operation right away would be the only way to save her and at that hospital they couldn't do it. They contacted St Luke's who told us they were full and had no rooms about 28 hours later the heart surgeon called us and said they refused us because it was a risky operation and because of my mother's age she passed away this morning not getting what she got because she was elderly and St Luke's didn't want to help her. It seems to me it would have been better to try and lose her than to not try at all and lose her because St Luke's didn't want to take care of an elderly person. Thank you for nothing!!

Overwhelmed, poor triage, inattentive staff in the emergency department. I suspect they do a wallet biopsy on each patient prior to treating.

My husband has been hospitalized about ten times in this hospital. Its a hit or miss with the nursing staff. Mostly I have to say miss. I stay with him 24 hours a day to make sure he is ok. The i.v. would keep going off and no one would come and attend to it. I had to learn how to work it myself, and they didn’t even seem to care!!!!! Once I went home really fast to shower and change clothes. I returned about an hour later to find my husband totally naked and ripping out his i.v.’s and no one was attending to him. He was still under recovery from sedation. The care you get there is only as good as the nursing staff. Why is it that they are always sitting around laughing and having a good time at the nursing station????? My friend (I have lots of r.n. friends) acknowledge this about his r.n. coworkers. They like to get out of as much work as they can. But they always say how hard they are worked. Then why are they always sitting and laughing in the nursing station??????????

Completely understaffed. My parent was injured by a nurse while recovering from major surgery and there’s not a word of it in her records.
