Nope. I suggest going to ERH emerg for physical issues and Surrey for psych if you can. RMH emerg is hit and miss at best depending on which staff are working, but definitely do not ever go there for psych concerns and risk being admitted to Kanaka ward (psych unit). If you didn't have PTSD before, you will after... It was the kind of stuff that nightmares are made of, and it was because of the staff - not the other patients. I did not go in suicidal, but I clearly remember finding and retaining the means to end my own life because it really was that bad on this unit, and there was no other way out. As a patient, I felt powerless where I had power before, and had lost hope, where positivity and hope never leave me otherwise. It was a dangerous place for me to be. I can say with 99% certainty that the doctors were unaware of how the behavior of the staff changed once they weren't present. The day I got out was spent on the phone reporting incidents that never should have happened, and staff behaviors that were detrimental to many patients, myself included. What they didn't know about me - and I kept quiet about it - was that I knew the family of one of the patients who couldn't advocate for herself and was being mistreated, and that this might cause trouble for them. That was the first call I made the moment I got in the door. As horrible as this sounds, if you didn't play their game by their rules, you were targeted, so it took somewhat of a strategic mindset to get through being there. Re-reading that statement triggers me and makes my stomach drop, but it was the truth at the time of my admission, and I can only hope that it's no longer the case.

My wife was sick for quite awhile. She went from 110 lbs to about 60 lbs.She wasn’t bathing or washing her hair.I tried to get her to go for help but she said no.She hardly ate anything.I talked to the ambulance and they said if she says no to go to the hospital they couldn’t take her. Finally she was so weak she fell down and agreed to go to the hospital.I asked the staff to make sure to check her out psychologically which should be obvious. They got her eating again but never got her evaluated properly. They said she was fine. How could someone be fine that let herself get that bad. They just wanted her out quickly. She was back in 4 months later.(Same outcome). Then a few months later back in again where she died.I blame it on Ridge Hospital for not keeping her for a better psychological evaluation which I think would have obvious.

I was sent by a nurse to go get my calf to have an ultrasound after I heard a snap and had excruciating pain. I waited in this hospital for 4 hours, 1 hour being a waste of time because nobody told me I had to find and ring a button at the x-ray station, and nobody took me seriously because I had no bruising. Now that some swelling has gone down I have bruising and I can feel an indent in my calf muscle. I told them all I have been dealing with pain from an initial injury since December. All they gave me was crutches and asked if I needed Tylenol…. Instead of actually figuring out the cause of pain because the doctors ego was too big. He repeatedly kept checking my knee when my knee had no issues. Worst of all he made me feel like I was wasting their time by saying he knows exactly how I feel and that it will get better with a few days rest. I am on day 3 of no work and I still cannot walk on my leg. I was literally just walking and this triggered this incident, why couldn’t they have done a test to confirm what was wrong so then I could make a plan to heal it? I have lost trust in this hospital. Waste of my money and time.

I recently had major surgery at Ridge Meadows Hospital and stayed four days following my surgery. I felt cared for and cared about! The doctors and, especially the nursing staff, could not have been more dedicated to providing the best quality, kind and compassionate care. They were all just outstanding. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Ridge Meadows.

I have been waiting for four hours – my doctor sent me to ER to repeat a blood test- some patients oops all who have shared my area in triage have been checked on and now a whole new group of patients are getting care . I can hear staff from my location- there’s no chart with my name , no one he as spoken to me. If they think I am wasting time their time and skills hey I’m right here . Come on over tell me so I can tell my doctor .

I spent 5 days in total at Maple Ridge Hospital. I moved here two yrs ago and had no idea what to expect. I cannot complain about the ER Dr’s or nurses. They were fabulous. I had a stubborn kidney stone and I was never in the waiting room for more than 5 min. I was made comfortable with pain killers… basically stabilized and kept me until pain was gone. Over the course of the week I had an ultrasound and a CT to verify the diagnosis and pinpoint size and location. The nurses were amazing. The only suggestion I would make is for a vein doppler for use in the ER. I have very small veins and the blood techs were horrible and left me very bruised and one gentleman hit a nerve in my wrist. I would recommend the nursing staff as they never missed when putting in an IV.
