I have seen Dr. Crichton for over 30 years. Even when he os very busy, he still takes the time to explain the medication, procedure or just answer a concern. I travel from Lethbridge because I don’t want to change to another doctor.

I just took my 88 year old mother for her pre-surgical appointment. The technician was curt, rude, withholding of information and seemly purposefully confusing. “What lens do you think you need?” She asks my mother. How would she know?? You’re the specialist! I felt sorry for all the seniors in the waiting room without family members there to help them through. At the end, when my mother thanked the technician, she was given “Yup.” In reply.

Dr. Crichton is amazing. I have my eyesight thanks to his care. I find he does not engage in conversation much but that’s because he remains focused on taking care of my eyes. He is professional and courteous. His staff are also very helpful and nice. Thank you, Dr. Crichton!

I have been seeing Dr. Crichton for 6 years. He NEVER mentioned that I had cataracts and then one day out of the blue he just said ‘schedule an appointment for surgery then we can blame your eye condition on the cataracts’. Mind you the reason why I was seeing him was because of Glaucoma suspect. He reopened my file after Dr. Douglas (his mentor) had cleared me. I cried, i prayed. When I gathered enough courage, I sought a second opinion with another opthalmologist in Deerfoot City. He immediately said, what are you doing? He said cataract is there yes, but it’s not at the stage to be operated yet. I cried and hugged him. I asked him when should I prepare for the surgery then. He said 20 years!!! I haven’t been to Dr. Critchton’s office since that time. I believe the other Dr. because I wasn’t complaining about my vision. To this day I don’t know why Dr. Crichton wanted to operate on my eyes. This has traumatized me so much that I haven’t been to an optometrist or opthalmologist since 2020 January. I’m dealing with trauma from what he wanted to do to my eyes.

I visited Dr, Crichton to schedule my cataract surgery. He almost never made eye contact during the whole session. He never smiled, making me quite tense. He was extremely reserved, just went about examining my eyes with his device and taking down notes, but never offering any comments on my cataract or eye condition until I asked him. He did not even mention that I also had cataract on my other eye. I only learnt it later from Heather, one of his staff.. He left the room, without even looking at me; he just said my staff would talk to you. That’s it! On the other hand, his staff were all very helpful and accommodating. After reading the comments of a past patient of his who said “he ruined my eyes during cataract surgery” and “he kept sighing during surgery”, I’m afraid I will have to cancel. I’m fearful!

After seeing him for maybe a two minute appointment, I decided on a second and third opinion and I’m glad I did. Hes using 1980 techniques (of course the other docs put it nicely), please update your knowledge and skill or retire.
