I had a full hip replacement. Substantial groin pain noted at one month. Dr demonstrated how he dislocated my hip and said that pain was normal. Pain still there at one year check-up and Dr said it had absolutely nothing to do with his surgery. I’ve since had a stem cell injection in the US and the pain is gone. Very disappointing experience.

Do not come to him if you are 65 and over! He practices rationing healthcare, if you are not judged important. He did not even read the one page MRI report I paid for privately, and I was in and out within a few minutes. The report he produced contained a list of items that he did not do, such as discussion of treatment options and hip exam. The nurse was very rude. It was obvious that decision concerning my treatment was made before my visit.

Dr Abelseth is direct, kind and thorough. Having already done my hip I felt confident with him doing my knee replacement. The coordinated efforts of all the staff at the Hip and Knee Clinic make a scary process much more manageable. From physio to case manager, teaching class to follow up - all services are provided in a very professional manner that inspires confidence.

excellent surgeon, had total hip replacement no problems he is kind and listens would recommend him. Thanks Dr. Abelseth…. I can now function without any pain.

Greg Abelseth replaced my hip in 2005, and he was excellent before, during and after the surgery. I have HIGH praise for him and recommend him for major joint surgery. His office staff was unfriendly and rude to me every time I was exposed to them. The Rockyview hospital’s intern hurt me after surgery, but it didn’t affect my recovery. I wouldn’t let her touch me afterward.

While his staff are the rudest I have every encountered in my life I am very impressed by the doctor. He is very good at communicating in non medical terms. I feel confident that my upcoming surgery will go well.

The staff are extremely ignorant and completely unwilling to do anything for you. I couldn’t even get a call returned to confirm an appointment after 2 messages. Dr. Abelseth is the complete opposite, he is helpful, knowledgeable, and genuinely cares for you. It’s just too bad that the staff are so rude and cold that you don’t even want to call to make an appointment.
