At first i really liked this doctor but after the way he has shown his true colors to me i have no respect for him at all. He does not think he has to send people to specialists. He also called me after going to a speacialist and told me he was "ticked off that i went to another doctor" first off that is my right as a human being to get a second opinion.

I owe my life to Dr. Smillie, his quick referals and knowledge of who and what Specialist I should see for my "Cancer of the Bowel" within 7 weeks from beginning (in Dr. Smillie's office to Surgeons and to the end of operation, I came out clean with no further treatments required. God Bless.

Dr. Smiley performed a csection for the birth of my son. After having 2 infections I went to a second doctor who discovered he had left placenta in me. This kind of malpractice should never be allowed. Do not go to this doctor. After having to get a procedure done(D and C) he had the nerve to call me and tell me that I was wrong to get a second opinion and that nothing was wrong with me. So I went back to my doctor to see the report from the D and C and finding of placenta were there. Now I am terrified to have more children from such a traumatic experience.

When Dr. Smillie should be referring patients on to specialists, he tries to diagnos problems that are far beyond his knowledge level. When serious issues are the problem, a GP’s job is to find a specialist and get proper medical attention for the patient.

Smillie doesn’t have a clue , he is arrogant and condescending. His lack of medical knowledge is dangerous and his ego gets in his way when he should send patients to specialists, but even then, he can not diagnose the problem enough to know who to send them to.

Dr. Smillie is a wonderful caring doctor and I feel very lucky to be his patient. Never makes you feel rushed or unimportant. He is the best doctor I have ever seen in my life. I am a very “high time” medical case, so I have seen a great number of doctors. He has researched topics for me in the past and contacts my specialists on different medications etc. I appreciate his attention and dedication.

Passive Aggresive is a great way to describe this doctor. He says condescending and horrible things in a pleasant tone so it takes a while to register what ACTUALLY just came out of his mouth. After 2.5 months on bedrest with a difficult pregnancy he made the comment, “I can’t believe you’re still pregnant.” Having had several ultrasounds up to that point, and an upcoming appointment with a specialist in Calgary, he said “I dont think we need another ultrasound, but if we dont find a heart beat then we’ll get one”, and “we wont look at terminating anything before your appointment with the specialist” To this day Im not so sure what we would be terminating, but not really something to say to a mother who could lose her baby at anytime.

Very attentive to working towards discovering what yur problem(s) are. Also very successful in arranging appts. with specialists’ that specialize in your problem to work with the problem.
