Dr. Jha saved my life, I had advanced stage 4 that had spread. He designed a treatment that would include feeding tubes, chemo, and radiation all at the same time. I lost 85 lbs, needed to be hospitalized for over 6 weeks following treatment, he stepped up when I needed a doctor to step up. I don’t care that he may have a different communication style than me, or seemed rushed, in fact, he is probably very rushed due to his incredible workload! I asked my diagnosis Oncologist/Surgeon who is only 1 in 4 head and neck oncologists in Canada to send me to the treatment Dr. he would refer his brother to, and he sent me to Dr. Jha. I will never ever be able to thank him for the 20+ months and counting I have had since treatment. I expect to be able to thank him when I see him in heaven!

Newly diagnosed with cancer, I was not expecting external beam radiation as first course of treatment and he was brutal, cold and short tempered about my questions. He dismissed everything I asked and would not explain the choice of treatment. He would not discuss potential side-effects saying that if it got rid of the cancer, I should not care. I was terrified, they put me in a room to watch a video about radiation and told me when to return for treatment in spite of the unanswered questions. I complained to the patient’s advocate office/hospital ombudsman. I refuse to see this doctor in clinic and have rescheduled if they mistakenly put me in on his clinic day.

This is probably one of the worst doctor in Edmonton. absolutely no mercy and no patience on patients.

As others have commented; abrupt, does not explain or answer questions. From our experience, seemed only interested in the patient getting the prescribed number of radiation treatments to the absolute end. People are just guinea pigs for study purposes. There is no attention to the individuals quality of life and the side effects that the patient will endure during treatment and for the rest of their life after the radiation. Chose a different Doctor.

Dr. Jha does not answer my questions and asked me once why would you want to know where the cancer has metastasized to. As a nurse, I feel belittled by his comments. It is like he is in a rush to leave the room. I have received appropriate treatment though.

We were scared to go to the Cross Cancer Institute. With an advanced cancer, we were scared. Dr. Jha and his team, looked after us and were great. He kept reminding us that the disease is curable and to hang in there. Those reminders helped us to go through tough treatment. Its all behind us and my husband is cancer free. We get to see a lighter, fun side of him during the follow up visits. We can't be more grateful to Dr. Jha and his team; they have a hard job and do it wonderfully.

this doctor never warned me that I may never be able to eat again or that my teeth will be removed later and only by a specialist and that replacement teeth would be painful or would not work well because of dry mouth and the real answer being implants are 6 to 8 years wait Not to mention the constant high pitch ringing in my ears and the damage to my eye sight I even wanted to stop after 4 weeks but he kept telling me its going to be ok after a few weeks after they stop on the sixth week Well it wasnt now im paying for it

My husband had an advanced Thyroid cancer and we saw Dr. Jha. He was caring and offered an aggressive treatment. My husband was not a religious man, but we had a heart to heart talk about the cancer and poor outcome. Dr. Jha went beyond his call of duty , reveling his compassionate and far sightedness side; we found that immensely helpful. He followed up after passing away of my husband and was supportive. The doctors at the Cross Cancer Institute have a difficult job indeed. We are grateful to Dr Jha and everyone at the Cross.

22 years ago Dr. Jha treated me for a rare skin cancer. Treatment was very difficult for me but I found him to be a very caring and compassionate individual. Just wanted to say 'Thank you for saving my life."
