Having had three previous sinus surgeries I was hopeful but not completely confident that a fourth would be any more successful. How wrong I was. Prof. Richard Harvey operated in January and I have had no blockages and full sense of taste and smell ever since. The post op care has been easy and simple and after 30 odd years of constant sinus problems I couldn’t be happier. I am so happy I decided to see Prof. Harvey and would highly recommended him to anyone who has sinus issues. Great doctor, wonderful staff and very professional practice.

Suffering from severe sinus infections and pain for many years, and undergoing surgery twice in Canberra without any success, it was suggested I get another opinion by visiting the Riverina Respiratory and Sleep Centre in Wagga. Fortunately a visiting Specialist from Sydney, Dr Anthony Byrne, was able to see me and referred me to Prof Richard Harvey at the Sydney Ear Nose and Throat Clinic. After a thorough examination and explanation of my condition by Richard Harvey, and at the age of 71, I decided that I would undergo a new procedure for my chronic sinus called Endoscopic sinus surgery Lothrop + Medical Maxillectomy at Macquarie University Hospital. From my first consultation with Richard Harvey and over the past two years, I have found him a thorough gentleman, an excellent communicator to both myself and my wife in explaining the procedures taken, and the care that has followed, since 28th April 2016. My surgery has been a great success with no reoccurrence as long as I follow post-op orders. As mentioned it is now two years since the operation and I am the best I have been for 30 years. The staff working for Richard are caring and helpful. I would highly recommend Prof Richard Harvey to anyone with a sinus condition and know that you will be in very capable hands. Sincere thanks to a great Doctor for a job well done.

Professor Harvey was highly recommended and I am so glad I made the right choice to have my endonasal surgery . I had rhinoplasty nearly thirty years ago and Over the years , started using nasal sprays to clear my blocked airway . At my first appointment,Professor Harvey explained the problem and treatment required in detail . All the staff at the clinic were very pleasant and helpful . The day procedure was performed at Macquarie University hospital and I received excellent care from all the medical staff and Dr Paul Whiting ,my anaesthetist on the day. I have not used a nasal spray since my surgery and have a restful sleep and no blocked nose ! Thank you Professor Harvey. With highest regard for your professionalism . Nalini Cochrane

I live in a small country town in the Riverina. Some years ago I developed an ongoing problem with a heavily bleeding nose. I saw 2 ENT specialists and was admitted to 2 hospitals and casualty at a large teaching hospital ,all to no avail. I was in hospital, my nose bleeding profusely ,,having blood transfusions, when my wife was directed to Prof Harvey, who told her that if I could get to Sydney, he would operate straight away. I went from hospital to Wagga by ambulance then air ambulance to St Vincent’s Sydney.(right nasal haemangioma ,right anterior septal telangiectasia ). Needless to say the operation was an outstanding success and I stayed in Sydney for 3 weeks under Prof Harvey,s care and made a full recovery. Words cannot adequately express my thanks for what he has done for me. I have the highest regard for Prof Harvey. His professional skill and patient care are outstanding and I would recommend him to anyone without hesitation. Bob Isaac

Six months ago my father suffered a severe noise bleed His GP could not stop it, so an ambulance was called Doctors tried to stop nose bleed on three different occasions. Eventually he was introduced to Prof Richard Harvey. I attended his surgery and was told that there was a small tumor that required surgery. This was a Wednesday and by Friday Prof Harvey had me in surgery(due to his age this was urgent) Following the operation Prof Harvey rand him several times over the weekend to see how he was felling. Prof Harvey is a true professional. The follow up visit showed that everything went well and healing.

For nearly fifty years I have worked in an environment full of dust, pollens and a variety of other allergens. I wouldn't leave my house without putting at least one nasal spray in my pocket, Pharmacists regularly told me not to use sprays for more than a few days but, without them, my life was very uncomfortable. Eventually, I couldn't breathe through my right nostril at all, and could hardly get any air through my left nostril, regardless of any nasal spray usage. It was then that I went to see Richard Harvey. I was immediately impressed by his engaging personality, his enthusiasm for his work and his willingness to explain in detail what my problem was and how he was going to fix it. Richard recommended surgery to remove from my nose allergy created polyps. Susan, Richard's practice manager, made all the necessary arrangements in a very friendly, helpful and efficient way. In fact, all the staff at Sydney E,N & T Clinic are friendly and without the pretensions frequently found in the offices of many top surgeons. As arranged by Susan, Richard performed the surgery at St. Vincent's. Everything went smoothly and I returned home with an appointment made with Richard to return to him a week later to have the "plugs'' removed. The intervening week was not painful, but it was uncomfortable. I was beginning to question the wisdom of having this surgery. I have had operations on other parts of my body which have had long and painful recoveries and less than optimal outcomes and I was afraid this might finish the same way. On the appointed day I saw Richard and he removed the "plugs", From my perspective, it was just like unveiling a masterpiece! For the first time in decades I could breathe through my nose perfectly. I have embraced Richard's holistic approach whereby he he not only fixes the problem, but he addresses the cause. To that end I am now taking Oralair immunotherapy tablets daily. It is now four months since my surgery, I have not used a nasal spray once in this time. Richard has made my life more comfortable than I could ever have imagined and I am extremely grateful. Such is my respect for Richard I have encouraged my son, who lives in Brisbane and has inherited the same issues I have, to travel to Sydney to see Richard. He has made an appointment and I am totally confident he is seeing the right person.

I had been unwell for over 6 months and several GPs and a specialist were unable to help. Prof Richard Harvey diagnosed my Inflammatory Rhinosinusitis and provided an effective yet simple treatment. I recovered very quickly. Thanks you, Michael.

“More than thankful to Prof. Richard Harvey” I don't usually write a review but I would like to share my experience here in case it is helpful to any potential patients like me to make their decisions. My nose was blocked by a large polyp for a long time which caused the severe breathing issue. It was removed by the first ENT doctor and the test showed my case couldn’t be worse as all kinds of virus and fungus were found in the nose (I am allergy to fungus). After the standard treatment I was very upset to hear the news that the polyp came back again just in two months so the second surgery was required. You can image how frustrated I was at that time, not just because of the second surgery, but due to the loss of hope as I couldn’t hear any positive opinions from that doctor. I finally made my mind to seek for the second advice when he told me that he never saw such case before. I searched online and found Professor Harvey’s file, which really attracted me with his solid experience and achievements, and with pages of compliments from all kinds of patients (I joined them now). It was very impressive that during the first appointment he diagnosed me precisely as Chronic Fungal Sinusitis. He explained the cause of disease, why the polyp came back again, and what kind of treatment I need, with all the details. Most importantly, he offered me a lot of hope and trust by telling me that he was very confident to fix it – usually you won’t hear such words coming out from a doctor’s mouth. The result is sensational, as Prof Harvey promised. The polyp was removed, the nose was restructured very well, and the following treatments were very effective. It’s been a year till now and the previous problems never come back again! If you are looking for a good ENT doctor in Sydney, there are many choices. However, if you want to find one of the best among them, please don’t hesitate to contact Prof. Richard Harvey. He has ample experience both in theory and practice. He talks to every patient with smile and patience, which passes the warmth and power. He is definitely the best ENT doctor in my mind. I find my luck with Prof. Harvey, and you will find yours – It’s just a phone call away. I am sure you won’t regret to making such choice.

Dr Harvey's the best. Following my septoplasty I can finally breathe through my nose at the age of 68. Not only that, but during the procedure he managed to straighten my nose so that I now have a face that not only my mother can love. Communications prior to surgery were clear and precise. On the day there were no surprises, everything went according to plan and recovery was as expected. When you are seeing Dr Harvey you can be confident you are in very good hands.

After chronic asthma and increasingly massive recurring nasal polyps that ravaged my nose requiring eight operations over more than thirty years, I couldn’t see a way forward. I live 400 kms from Sydney and a visit to the only “local” ENT specialist (100 kms away) brought a considered referral to Professor Harvey who immediately accepted the challenge and I proved to be a suitable candidate for antibody treatment. At first the treatment was courtesy of a grateful ex-patient but after an extensive polypectomy with a lot of bone work and a follow-up operation I was accepted into the Fasenra program. It is now over two years since Professor Harvey first saw me and I have a near normal-looking nose, breathe well and at the last review still had no disease. I am in my 70s and wish this treatment had been available when I was younger and the disease not so entrenched. I am so grateful that there is a way forward after all. Professor Harvey has an excellent chair-side manner so that you feel your case is important to him.
