One of the best hospitals I have been in and involved with and being 80 years old, I've seen a few.

they used to be very good but over the years there services have deteriorated the staff nurses doctors volunteers and clerical staff has steadily gone down hill the good knowledgeable compassionate with great b ed side manors and respect have left leaving the rude disrespectful uncaring 4th rate 3rd world style staff that could care less about there patients or there families. i have been both a patient and when i was in collage i did my clinical training here and the staff nurses and doctors would set around making fun of the patients currently under there care in the emergency room and would also compare them to past patients using both names violating hippa privacy act laws and saying horrible things about them and there families this is not the hospital to go to if you value your privacy or dont like being made fun of because of what is wrong with you

I had a total knee replacement at Baxter Regional. I was in the hospital 5 days, and had excellent care all 5 days. All the staff introduced themselves to me, my call light was answered promptly, the food was decent (for hospital food), staff anticipated my needs and I rarely had to ask for meds, water, ice, etc. I would not hesitate to return there for care. As a note -- I am an RN, as are my husband and daughter, as well. None of of are employed at Baxter Regional; we live in Missouri.

This hospital really scares me. Staffing is stretched thin. Help hard to come by if you need a nurse. I got yelled at by a male nurse. This was after I had been ringing for 20 minutes. He told me that I wasn’t the only patient on the floor! The problem was that my IV had a very annoying alarm that went off if there was a problem. Try listening to that for 20 minutes while you wonder what is wrong! The ER there is a joke! They do nothing and charge a fortune to the insurance companies. I was there once with a friend. She was on dialysis and had no urine output. This should have been quite obvious but 2 CNA’s tried to Catharine her! I could go on with the horror stories but it would take me all night to even start. By the way, forgot the man who went in for a simple procedure and got a serious case of MRSA. Of course he had to stay in hospital and be treated for it at his expense! They have rubber gloves at every room entrance but many staffers don’t use them. Oh! One last comment. I was in hospital for 5 days. My bed was never changed. I was never bathed and I had to ask 4 x for a clean gown. A CNA brought one in and dropped it on the bed. I was hooked up to too many things to put it on myself. I called my husband and he came back to help me. The gown didn’t come until after he left so he had to make another trip! Management! Get it together. I have so many more stories I could share, especially about the hospitalists!!!!! People talk to each other about their experiences. Anyhow, try Mercy Hospital. It’s not that far and a lot better than Baxter Regional.

Really concerned about their staffing. They seem pretty slimmed down and stretched. Most of the patients here are Medicare age which really means that the patients see the poor staffing levels and are worried about “asking the nurse” for help. The staff, due to shortages, cannot be assertive with personal care. You always have to ask. Management at BRMC really needs to do something about the staffing.

They don’t know what they’re doing, I’d rather see REAL doctors than go to this hospital again.

They only care about money. Make sure someone stays with you in hospital they act to busy to help you. Not a friendly place.
