I gave 2 stars for cleaning as the poor bloody cleaners don’t get paid enough to clean! They drag ancient vacuum cleaners around that should have been gone out with the ark. Facilities.! I imagine if you have post natal depression your treatment and treatment could be better than us mere general admission with depression, anxiety and all the rest. Facilities other than a cafe that closes at 1:30 and arts & craft? I have more enjoyment in the laundry. It’s now a very sad place Belmont. It cost $20,000 for me to be here for 21 days – I could have gone on a cruise and taken my Dr Spelman with me and still had money to spend! The nurses are not very helpful or caring and no one wants to hear about your problems. The food is the same each week and so boring. There’s absolutely no thought given into the menu. I’m vegetarian and I showed some pictures of meals but they never eventuated.
Sharon, Kerry, Kay and the girls are all good people who have a difficult job. I have been coming here for 20 years.
The hospital has gone down the toilet, it’s such a shame.

Nurses and catering staff were excellent and very helpful. I was under the care of Dr Taemets and his assistant, both of them were unprofessional, and distracted, seemed like they NEVER communicated with each other. Neither of them knew what the other had said or done and it was an incredibly stressful time dealing with them both, whilst I was in there for therapy and to de-stress!!!
I felt unheard and frustrated by the lack of “care” they provided. At one stage his assistant came and spoke to me late on a Friday afternoon, I had asked her to consult Dr Taemets regarding my leave over the weekend earlier in the day, when she came to see me late – after 5pm – she made up all sorts of excuses and when I asked what the outcome of the weekend leave was, she threw her hands in the air and walked off saying “i dont know!” and that was the end of the conversation!!!
I was constantly in tears and my anxiety levels were through the room dealing with these 2.

My previous admission I was under Dr Motarmary and the whole experience with Dr Motarmary and his assistant was beautiful and positive, like it should be.

Unfortunately I have not been able to go back to Belmont because I was told by Dr Taemets’ assistant that when I return I HAVE to be under his care and NO OTHER DOCTOR will accept my care!!
I don’t know if this is the case and true, but it has left me with panic and fear to return to Belmont.

The hospital should really investigate Dr Taemets and his assistant. They seem over worked, exhausted and they do not seem to enjoy your jobs!

Dealing with admin staff over the phone is a NIGHT MARE! None of them seem to know whats going on.

🚫 AVOID. MH services in Qld are a joke. Big mistake. Nurses have NO empathy or mental health training and are 95 percent are: rude, very disrespecful and make things up. Staff are ALL on power trips and even the cleaners are paranoid psychos. Crazy 😧 One woman should have been a patient, she was so crazy and accused me of speaking to her rudely when I did NOTHING. She completely made it up! 🤥

Instead of getting better, I got MUCH WORSE after my staying there and I should’ve left sooner. Waste of time and money. NEVER AGAIN. ⚠️

I was a patient for 3 years at Belmont and left on awful terms. When I became “too complex” I was over medicated, confined to a ward and then abandoned by my psychiatrist. Most of the nursing staff is lovely. The art room provided more help than the nurses at times. However some went above and beyond to help me when I was being held against my will inappropriately and helped connect me with a solicitor. I was heavily pressured into ECT but thankfully refused. I would not recommend Dr Newman to anyone experiencing anything beyond simple depression and anxiety. I am just happy I managed to find treatment elsewhere that is in my control without a laundry list of medications

Nurses are rude. Spend more time sitting behind the glass chatting than checking and interacting with their patients. They speak condescendingly to concerned family members. They lie about waitlisted for single room, finally give you one than harass you to move to a shared room. Discharged without papers, no scripts and incorrect medication information. The cleaning staff are kinder to patients that the Doctors and nurses. They have an issue with patients offering other patients drugs and if you succumb to the temptation, you’re kicked out immediately. They care about one thing money!

discharging and refusing to take their patients who are admittedly suicidal and distressed. zero duty of care, verging on negligence. completely apathetic towards their patients.

Nurses and other staff are really good but they don't have a formal complaints process if you do have an issue. The food was great when it was delivered to your room but the dinning room isn't very good. The cleaners were always kind but rushed. If you're changing rooms they're very abrupt about it.

Belmont helped me over the Christmas and new year period when I had nobody else. The staff in hillside ward have been absolutely wonderful and caring. Highly recommend!

There are a lot of caring and compassionate nurses working here. Jenny the manager is very unapproachable and very rude to patients and visitors also. She's a huge turn off to a lot of people. Recently they have had a large amount of their psychiatrists leave and also leave patients with no psychiatrist to which their patients were just left with not enough warning and no referrals to other psychiatrists. Not good enough.
