Just a question. Why are the nurses and doctors at Burnaby Hospital Emergency so rude and dismissive…. I refuse to go there anymore, but still hear from friends it’s still the same. Is it a leadership issue… or a morale issue? Sad place.

This place is awful…..I got sick on the food so many times and after calling for a nurse over and over they left me in my own feces for over 6hrs. My blood pressure kept getting higher and I asked to see a Dr but was ignored until it hit 180…..went in there for a knee surgery and wound up with sepsis….they kept me there close to 4 months and I had one MD tell me when I asked when they were planning on letting me leave that I would be there “indefinately”. If I hadn’t screamed and complained I’d still be there. Avoid this place like the plague!

Food is horriffic and without taste. Tiny portions with NO SALT! NONE. NO TASTE. This is how you imagine prison food lol

Very sad situation. Broken medical system in Canada. There is not much human contact there. I was treated like a number. They wanted to do x ray twice. When I asked if something was wrong with the first one woman told me that I did not do it. Unorganized, dr is rushing, has no time to tell you what you need to know. Baby craving for hours in there. Elderly people were sitting in emergency room for 8 hours and I was lucky, just 6 hours. Humans should not be treated this way

I was in Burnaby Hospital twice past summer for same injury - first visit was 4 days and quite unpleasant. I was then moved to RCH for surgery and then back to Burnaby Hospital. The second time I was back at Burnaby the nurses and care aides all made me feel like I was a princess. They were so kind, friendly, came quickly when I rang the bell. There seemed be nothing they wouldn't do to make me comfortable. They were simply fantastic and I will never forget their kindness. I met several doctors and all were very speedy in getting me the treatment they believed would be helpful. It was a positive experience for me.

My experience with the Emergency staff was excellent and I was well taken care of. I had 4 doctors all with high regards especially . Dr. Gregory White who I saw twice and was relaxed not in a hurry even though they are extremely busy. This includes Dr. Dayan Huang, Dr. Meghan Plotnick and Dr. James Chomin. regards to the nurses who were pleasant and caring, (not just with myself but with others that were around me) and gave time to give smiles. I would not have experienced this if it was not for the lack of care given by Metrotown Urgent and Primary Care Centre sending me home with a cat bite (4 puncture wounds and signs of swelling) told to apply polysporin and ice my hand. Even when I said from previous experience with cat bite that it would be severe, and the Dr. The first time said not to wait in getting treated for the severity of a cat bite is serious. The triage nurse obviously was not trained in this area and said NO to antibiotics. The Dr's. would not give this out easily. Should it get worse come back. Gave me an email to send pictures to and they they will advise from there. So much for prevention of infection. Next morning the swelling was so much that there were no site of knuckles and not much use of hand. I would easily say hand was twice the size of other..i hope the attached pictures come with this review, (i tried to attach) 1 picture is morning after and the 2 other pictures day of bite and visit to walkin. With that said the Burnaby General Emergency staff took excellent care of me. A very special thankyou goes out to all those that care and do there job with purpose. ❤️ This is a duplicate review done on January 9, 2024, but this time with the common sense to write it, copy it, paste it, read it, and hopefully no mistakes and unfinished sentences and that it makes sense.....then send.

I had to get to Emerg due to an intestinal and liver issue in August 2023. Ambulance had a 4 hour wait. First time for everything. My son got me in, bless him. Only to be dealt with, by incompetence?? I get it ERs are only run by Resident doctors. The Attending could be paged. Richard is his name wrote in his notes I had a 17cm liver mass. He said I did not look distressed and sent me home. I came back in a couple minutes later up chucking, they gave me gravol. Goodbye.... RCH took me next day bleeding internally from my liver (thats the mass). An embolisym procedure done to stop bleeding. HAU ward for 5 days to watch me then Surgical ward for 9 more days. I think I was distressed enough Richard!!! Holy

I had my baby here several years ago. They had another emergency thst was deemed more important so they sent me home with nothing and didn't induce me on time. Had to go back next day when my ob called me angry they hadn't. Oxytocin. I was then berated for not telling the attending my waters had broken when I didn't know. I was treated like cattle. Emergency c section. Left alone. Walked to nurses station and no one was there to help me in the middle of the afternoon. Nurses were super kind, attending physician was dismissive. Maybe 3 families in the ward, paid for private room and stuck another family directly next to my private room with a screaming toddler and running around all hours of the night. Wish I hadn't paid the extra.
