Uspace the facility had great potential. I went in a few times, but had to leave because of various reasons. First, I was constantly followed and watched by another patient and when I expressed my discomfort the nurses told me that they just didn't know boundaries and there was nothing they can do. In another admission, I was asked to leave because I was doing a crossword in group therapy. I have adhd and need to be stimulated in certain situations or i wont be able to concentrate. My treating psychiatrist told me that I was being disruptive. His other patients slept, did not come, or listened to music with noise cancelling headphones in group therapy (which is fine, they are coping with a lot, but I was the only one asked to leave the unit, the boys did not even get spoken to. I told the psychiatrist that I felt unsafe to go home and o was very worried, he told me that it would be fine because I would be with my family, and sent me home to my problematic family situation, which we had had multiple meetings about talking about how to handle the horrible relationship between everyone in my family. Overall, Uspace was good when I was depressed, but when my mood was even slightly elevated I was told to âtry to be matureâ and to âcalm down.â I didn't feel safe or listened to. I really would not recommend Uspace to anyone unless they are good at being able to self soothe, because the staff at Uspace will not help. There are of course some great nurses, but unfortunately the management of Uspace isn't the best it could be, and the way the program is organised isn't beneficial for the patients.
