I had an emergency surgery up there on the night of Feb.14th 2021 and from the admitting personnel, to emergency room staff, surgeon and assistants, all the nurses and care aides on the 2nd floor ( for 4 days), food servers, cleaning staff, and floor staff when I checked out; they were all fantastic. Great job everyone! It is comforting knowing we have such great care facilities in our community. I am very thankful.

Only go to this hospital if you have a broken leg or need stitches. Other than that, good luck!

Just had my FIRST positive experience at CMH, out of 10-15 trips there either for myself, or taking friends/family in over the years.
This trip was for an elderly family member. From the awesome BCAS attendant (1 of 2) to the ER staff, through to 4/5 of the nurses on the second floor over a few days, the most that could be done was done, patience was in abundance and faces were friendly for the most part. Even the food was good – or so I’m told. Dr. Kristen Keith was nothing short of an angel. She is an incredibly positive addition to CMH!!
There are some nurses who just shouldn’t be in that profession, but I’m trying to find the positive in this experience. I feel like perpetually cranky, nasty and rough nurses are likely everywhere, and not specific to CMH.
Going to a hospital now, isn’t the same as it was 15, 10, or even 3 years ago. The services provided have been cut by 60% or better, it seems. If you’ve never experienced those “old-fashioned” hospital services in the past, you may not notice their absence. For those of us who have received that level of care in the past, this new bare minimum level of care is shameful. I don’t think the costs of better care (especially hygiene) can be so great that CMH couldn’t set an example to other hospitals.
Anyway, there was very little worth complaining about on this latest medical adventure. That can NOT be said for previous visits and ordeals. So, I feel like kudos are in order, like improvements have been made. Way to go Cariboo Memorial Hospital, it seems like you’ve stepped up your game. My gratitude to one and all, even the crankypants nurse on the second floor.

Took my old friend in as he was having troubles breathing. They were more concerned with masking him up as per Covid protocol. An oxygen mask would have been nice. Common sense does not prevail over protocol!

Broke my leg in two places. Feel we live in a third world country by the care I have received. Don’t break a bone in Williams Lake, BC! If you do, good luck to as you will not receive any proper care.

If you enjoy waiting for 6 hrs on average while the nurses all chat and play on their phones this is the place to go!
And then the admitting nurse was horrible! Absolute rude,a side why we were there! I’d rather drive hours to get decent service !
