I used to be fine with the small town hospital vibe but my dad is in there right now with terminal cancer and they are making it really hard on my mom. Take your loved ones to Almonte, Ottawa, or Smiths Falls. Anywhere but here. Please.

Showed up at around 10:30pm in emerge, I asked the lady in emerge roughly how long the wait was. Wanting to know if I would be there until the next morning or just an hour or two. She repeatedly told me to just “go stand in the hallway” and was very rude. Which is quite unfortunate as it is nurses/doctors like that who ruin other nurses/doctors ‘reputations’, such as my mother.

Family member went to emergency with a swollen, yellow abdomen and severe pain. Doctor said it was a sign of constipation (??!!) and to go home. He went back and was told the same thing. Unsatisfied, he called another doctor who knew right away (over the phone) it was his appendix and his body was in septic shock. Was in another hospital for weeks. He could have died because the doctor did not do his job.

DO NOT GO TO CARLETON PLACE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL. IF YOU ARE BROUGHT THERE . SAVE YOURSELF, GET OUT OF THERE! THEY SURE AS F@#K DON'T WANT TO SAVE YOU!!!! CALL 911 GET TO ALMONTE!!!OR CALL ME I WOULD TAKE YOU. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO RETURN TO WORKING FOR 2 AND HALF YEAR! WHEN I SUFFERED A SERIOUS TRAUMA TO THE HEAD. LATER CLASSIFIED AS LIFE TREATENING AT THE TIME.. I WAS PUT ON A PATIENT TRANSPORT BED IN THE HALL..WHERE I LOST CONSCIOUSNES,. OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS I WAS AWOKEN TWICE POSSIBLY THREE TIMES BY LOUD NOISES. THANKFULLY THERE WAS A STAFF MEMBER AT THE SIDE OF THE BED TO CALM ME EACH TIME AND REMIND ME WHERE I WAS. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 4 HOURS OF BEING IN THE HALLWAY I WAS FEELING COMFORTABLE WITH MY SURROUNDINGS AND REMEMBERING THAT I WAS IN A ACCIDENT! I ASKED THE STAFF MEMBER WHOM WAS THERE AT MY BED SIDE EACH TIME I WAS AWAKEN BY THE LOUD NOISES,IF IT WAS OKAY AND SAFE TO GO.HE CALMLY ANSWERED YES. THEN POLITELY ASKED ME IF I REMEMBERED THE WAY THAT I CAME IN I'M GUESSING THAT MY BODY LANGUAGE MUST HAVE ANSWERED . LOOKING DOWN EITHER ENDS OF THE HALLWAY. BECAUSE BEFORE I COULD SAY NOT REALLY. HE OFFERED TO LEAD ME TO ER MAIN ENTRANCE .I'LL NEVER FORGET WHAT HE SAID NEXT.... 'JUST GIVE ME A MINUTE ,CANT LEAVE THIS IN THE HALLWAY.SOMEONE MAY TRIP AND FALL AND SUE THE HOSPITAL..WHEN HE RETURNED HE WAS WITHOUT HIS BROOM .AND THEN LEAD ME OUT OF THE HOSPITAL..........................................mandatory star requirement for submitting...LMFAO. PS THE OTHER THREE MANDITORY STAR BELONG IN TE CLEANLINESS Feild......

My sister was admitted to the hospital recently. Received the best care from the nurses while in the hospital. The physician attending to my sister was phenomenal. All hospital staff are stressed to the limit remember that when you have to attend courtesy can go a long way.

Went for severe abdominal pain and waited about 5 hours to be seen. Was then told that I was not in that much pain and was given Tylenol and gravol. Ended up going back home to suffer for a night. Ended up at the Queensway Carleton two nights later for surgery to remove my ruptured appendix. Because it had ruptured it was a more complex surgery and a longer recovery. Save yourself and go to Almonte.

Having lived in this town for 20 years, I have used this hospital's ER on many occasions, and it used to be very good. Those days seem to be gone. Recently my daughter had a surgery (at another hospital ) and developed complications so I rushed her to our nearest ER. We were greeted by a disinterested nurse who barely looked up from the computer. I was told we would be “in for a long wait” as they were short staffed and to wait to be triaged. My daughter was visibly shaking, a high pulse, sweats, and a bloody bandage on her face. This seemed to not matter. The ER waiting room was empty. We gave it five minutes and told them we were going to another hospital since . The nurse just shrugged and said OK. This is just one of many incidents I could relate. Numerous friends and other family members have related similar stories about the Carleton Place Hospital, including nurses standing around watching youtube videos, being unprofessional, and being rude about patients to colleagues, I would no longer recommend this facility to anyone. Save your time and drive to Almonte or the Queensway Carleton.

Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital continually punches above weight winning Provincial awards through out the years. Prior to Covid the EMERG was filled with non resident patients traveling from the City to be served.
