Horrible place and drs. Went there and had really high Blood pressure and bcuz my family dr passed the doctor asked if i wanted him to prescribe me a medication and i said yes. Then this dr. Blondie gives me a written prescription without my name on it and when my pharmacy called about the prescription they said they had nothing on file for the medication and was told to go back to the hospital or find a family dr, which isnt easy right now, to get a prescription for the issue. Avoid this place, ive also had 2 other major issues with them involving my dads passing last year… absolute joke of a place.

Even though this goes way back to 1984 my
mother was admitted after suffering a massive stroke.
About 2 days afterwards a nurse untrained in using a Hoyer lift dropped my mom on her head onto a tiled floor.
I was bloody well fit to be tied when I heard about this.
I went to the director of the hospital to complain about this and how now my mom was terrified.
I told him I wanted the name of the nurse who did this and he said I can’t tell you that.
He went onto say that the nurse didn’t even know how to use the Hoyer lift!
I said then why was she?
As well a while later when I was in for my daily visit with my mom I saw she had her arm wrapped in gauze to a styrofoam slat.
When I asked my mom what happened she managed to slur out the words ‘too much insulin.’
My mom who was a diabetic could have died due to the nurse’s incompetence!
Months later in April when I was, again in for my daily visit, I asked my mom ‘how are you doing today mom?’ whereupon she answered that the nurse dropped her on the floor again!
I did my best to maintain my composure and I asked that particular nurse what had happened. She lied like a sidewalk and said that because she was changing my mom’s bedsheets that she put her on the floor.
    I was ready to explode!
I said ‘BS! Don’t give me that crap! There’s a leather recliner here in the room and you’re trying to tell me that you put my mom on the floor?!’.
I have, myself, experienced pretty shoddy less than professional treatment from the staff at Concordia Hospital like when I broke my wrist and I went to the admittance where when I was asked my name I gave it. It’s an ethnic name and when I told the receptionist it she looked at me suspiciously and said ‘Is that your REAL name?!’
It’s not like I told her my name was Jane Doe!
For goodness sake I had my I.D.
and my Manitoba Health card with me!
    Terrible hospital!

My parent who had just received surgery and has dementia was in the hospital and the day after the surgery we were pressured to take our parent home without setting up homecare. Not all nurses, but there are a few at the desk that if you called to find out what was going on or your inquiring because your parent cannot properly relay the info back to you and you call and are treated very rudely, are being spoken to in a condescending manner and treated like you’re an idiot! It’s not enough that you have to call and follow up with this person and the next person that’s one thing but when you call to find out about you’re loved one you are treated like you are a nuisance. Terrible absolutely ridiculous! I’m in customer service and if I ever spoke to a customer like that I would be fired! I will name the ward, it was floor 2 west. It was two women nurses who made us all feel like we were not humans. Go back to school and learn to not be so snarky on the phone with the families. You don’t know what people are dealing with and going through!

My husband went for a Day Hip Replacement surgery on February 24, 2023. During his surgery he aspirated. His vomit went into his lungs and the oxygen was cut off from his brain. Although, much like experiencing drowning. Then he went into Cardiac Arrest. After being given CPR a rhythm and pulse were re-established. He was transferred to the Recovery Room and ventilated. It was a completely devastating for my family as we watched and listened the staff. We were in complete shock as it was a Day Surgery for a Hip Replacement. He was then transferred to the Grace Hospital ICU and on the seventh day was removed from the ventilator and passed away on March 3rd, 2023. Our lives, as his, have been destroyed. The Concordia Hospital website ensures a better of quality of life by enabling a man to walk once again free of pain. My husband, however, never had that chance to walk. Months later we were asked to come to the Concordia once again to review what happened and if so question the surgery. However, none of the Surgical Team was in attendance. Only to be replaced by bystanders that were not in the Operating Theatre at the time of the event. Nearly, one year later, I still ask why a team of proposed skilled healthcare leaders could not read the monitors that clearly had displayed that he was in distress. After all, it must have been so painful in those last moments. Suffocating, drowning, by no longer being able to breathe.

The facility is ok its just the staff their if you aren't management, nurses or doctors theirs alot of classism that alainates the support staff to be treated and overlooked like nobody's to the out it's caused serious mental health problems clearly humility and empathy is clearly lacking kinda ironic considering it's a christian hospital I don't think Jesus would be to happy witnessing the behavior their shame

I had a shoulder replacement surgery at Concordia Hospital the end of April 2022 . The first night after my surgery at 3 am I pressed my call button to have the nurse apply the ice pak which I had brought with me. He was incredibly rude and demanded to know why this wasn't done earlier. I said I thought the meds would manage the pain but I think I need ice as well. He was visibly angry, glaring at me and barking that this all should have been done and why was he expected to do it now!!I was so scared I actually got out of bed and attempted to hook up the ice machine myself with one operated arm in a sling !! He finally did it and left while I sat in bed and cried. Another night nurse came into my room and asked me why I was crying and I just said “he was so mad at me”. She didn't care and she left me sobbing into my hands. My roommate heard the whole situation and was adamant I report the male nurse who was abusive . I didn't see that male nurse again and reported him when I got home. After 4 weeks I got a call from Concordia patient services and the woman apologized for his actions and that was that. Absolute unacceptable behaviour!

I have had rheum arthritis since 1998. In 2007 I was referred to Concordia for knee replacements. Saw dr turgeon. Who is a awesome dr. By 2011. My rheum told me Concordia lost my chart. He had just found out. My family went to Dominican for my oldest sons wedding. We left Jan 31st. My surgery was scheduled for feb 5. The first day everyone was great. Was on it pain meds. And oral. The day after is when the trouble started. A blond physio therapist with huge glasses came in said I had to do physio now. My nurse Caroline was in the room. She asked the lady if could wait for 10 min so could bring me meds. She was told no. As I am from the country and very old school , I thought had to listen to her. We went off. Remember it's the morn after my surgery. We got to a stairwell. She then said I had to go up the steps. I cried all the way up. Got to the landing. Was just going to sit down. Was told no can't do that. Wasn't allowed to test at all. She also left the wheel chair at the bottom of the stairs. So down I went. I was so upset and said I am not going to do anymore. And if she didn't like it oh well. Got back to my room. Caroline was there with pain meds. The next morn the physio came again. Told her to leave and don't come back. I also found out that lady started 2 weeks before I got there. I was only supposed to only be there for 5 days. Had to stay for 11 days. I already take very strong meds for my arthritis. And had to be given iv ketamine. And another meds I've can't temember. Also because I am highly allergic to tomat. I got served. Mac and cheese for 10 of the 11 days there for dinner and supper. Which I haven't eaten since. My second replacement, I was terrified to go. Almost refused even though it had to be done. I met with physio to find out if that girl was still there. Was told she got fired. So I went ahead with it. All turned out great. Only had to stay 5 days this time. A much better experience. Now need hip replacement. Food was much better and hoping will experience.

Went in with extreme muscle pain head to toe. I was takent to an off room right after seeing the nurse. Took a while to get much needed pain meds until they had an idea what might be wrong with me. Did Xrays an EKG & blood work right away . I have heart issues so checked a ton to rule it out. Nurses & doctors were excellent . One doc thought he might have the right diagnoses after 2nd blood work was done. He got internal medicine to redo blood work in the am & he was correct. I was still in pain but the Hydro morph helped alot. I was given thecorrect meds & was sent home it 3 hours. I was still week but on my way to recovery. By 6pm the next day I was 80% better. Thank you so much Concordia Staff
