No service for 15 to 20 hours unless you're about to drop dead. I've seen people with broken limbs and as well as children desperately needing stitches sit for over 12 hours straight with not a lick of medical care.

I'll say this: If you're a not-urgent case, forget it. Go see your family GP or a walk-in clinic the next day. *The emergency room is not your walk-in clinic*. I've been to the DECH 3 times in the last 4 months. 1st Instance: I was hours out of out-patient surgery bleeding heavily from a section of my incision that wasn't quite cauterized correctly. I was seen immediately. (As in: Walked in, got a ticket, sat down, triaged, straight to a surgeon). 2nd/3rd Instance: Long standing medical problem (unrelated to above) that I have a long medical history of, and a good dozen or two admissions (+ 8 surgeries) for. I was triaged within an half an hour, and seen by medical staff 1hr-1.5hrs later. In most cases, a good attitude and politeness to their staff will be reciprocated. If you treat them like assholes, don't expect anything other than what's medically required. Let me re-iterate... If you're an otherwise healthy person and have a cough, stop going to the DECH and expecting to be seen immediately. You will not be seen. If you're a morbidly obese person and come in complaining of chest pains, you'll probably be seen fairly quickly. (or triaged to make sure you're not having a heart attack at least).

I am writing the review as I'm setting in pain after my surgery, I'll be staying here for few days it has been a nightmare so far. I am very surprised of how low and unprofessional the nurses are, but to tell the truth theY have a nice attitude but we don't need that while in pain waiting desperately for the nurse to come and help. You ring the bell but you wait a good 25 mins where all you can here is the nurses chatting and laughing. Horizon health need to do something about it or hand the responsibility to other professionals.

As a group, the staff is among the most rude I've ever experienced. Some are great; there are always exceptions, but the overall experience is similar to basic training: "Be quiet; go there; sit down; wait; don't ask questions; do what you're told". The staff seems to think they're on a factory assembly line rather than dealing with adults. Whenever possible, I will go somewhere other than here. The best attitude quickly goes south after an hour here.

The emergency room is a disaster. I waited 14 hours after telling them I couldn’t wait any longer. I then asked them if I came back after a commitment that I couldn’t avoid would they be able to see me with some priority. I was told by the nurse, who was totally unconcerned and had a attitude that couldn’t care less, that I would to go to the back of the line again!!!
I have never received such rotten service in such a rotten manner.
Oh, it’s not our fault, we just work here. Underfunded, you know.
Then why aren’t the emergency room stall leading the charge for more funding? The silence is deafening. I trust there is no risk to their jobs if they speak up.

Waited 16 hours to see a doctor about a possible DVT, then another 6 to finally get a ultrasound and be discharged. I have no godly clue why they think this is acceptable. Dr. Everett Chalmers should be rolling in his grave.

The ER is a joke. I had other patients upset on my behalf because I had waited so long to be seen while in incredible pain from herniated discs. I waited 9 hours, the Dr had the decency to apologize, the intake nurses could not have cared less. Need to get their act together big time.

Brought our 4 month old infant in to this place, we waited over 5 hours before our baby had got seen. Staff acts like children, gossiping about other patients is Very unprofessional!! My parking bill on top of this was almost $10. Ridiculous

I left Fredericton because of the medical care there. It was my home for over 70 years and most of my children live in NB. I came to Ontario because their healthcare is so much better. Thank God we did because my husband discovered he had prostrate cancer as soon as we got a doctor here and our Doctor didn’t bother to check for that when my husband had his medical for international driver’s licence just a couple of weeks before leaving. He was cured within a few months at Hamilton Cancer Center. I feel really sorry for NBers because I know good doctors are few and far between in NB and the only good hospitals are French.
