So I was informed tonight that my Father was taken by ambulance to the emergency as he was in so much pain that he couldn’t walk, gets there nurses assess him not a Doctor put him in a wheelchair and set him in the waiting room. The ambulance was called at 4am my Father sat there in pain until after 7pm tonight before he said F this place and had his wife take him home. Now how in the hell does this happen arrive in a ambulance and not be seen by a doctor for over 12 hours absolutely disgusting, what the hell is going on there do they want people to die in the waiting room!

The operators are stern and act like they would rather be somewhere else than answer your questions. I have had horrible experiences in accessing healthcare in Canada, but Fredericton is by far the worse. I have been trying to get a referral to an OBY/GYN for some time now. The evisitnb website said I need an in-person assessment. I do not have a family doctor to get a referral and walk-in clinics are always full. I call the hospital for suggestions but the operators show no empathy and rarely ever give info that is useful. What is the point of supposedly free health care when you can barely access it. The system here is beyond ridiculous. What a shame!

Terrible place, both my roomates tested positive for Covid, I was having severe anxiety and some health issues, and they told me it would be a 12-15 hour long wait, while it didn’t seem busy at all, there were maybe 8 people in there all night, the service there is absurd and for people coming in there who actually need medical attention just go to Oromocto, they’re compassionate there & you’ll be seen very fast.

DECH=Don’t Ever Come Here. My dad died here. He asked for a feeding tube. they said no. He starved to death. You know who u are. I won’t forget.

Stayed for about a week on two different floors – cleanliness is an issue . One patient affected 3 others as the bathroom was their personal dumping ground. This was never resolved – two patients had to walk the ward to a public washroom the other was catheterized. It was disgusting. Dr Theriault – hope you do not get her…bed side manner was awful. It was all about beds patients be damned. Nurses we as awesome as they could be based on the above.

The worst experience in my life was in the outdated emergency room . It appears each time I had to use this hospital fro health issues it appears it caters to drug addicts and street people. Recently with severe abdominal pain I waited from 9:30 pm and left at 2:30 am being entertained by overdosed people within 5 feet of each one with no privacy. I could hear what every person was there for their blood pressure readings and what medical staff conversed with each person. No privacy. I've only managed to see a dr in 2 out of 5 visits this one being the worst encounter in my life. What Dr would even want to work in these condtions? The intake staff were pleasant . The hospital is so outdated The government should be ashamed of the facility called the emergency sept of a hospital in the provinces capital. I guess coming from another province and comparing the conditions here . I must of been privledge . I will never go back. I wish the media would reach out to me. The hospital in Cuba or other third world countries are comparable to this emergency department .. In this day and age with technology and money the government has been given for health care.. it's embarrassing.

Arrived about 8pm with a blocked catheter. Very painful. Sent immediately to a treatment room where nurse attempted to unblock catheter. She was unsuccessful. Doctor arrived and examined me ans eventually they changed the catheter which relieved the pain. New catheter worked well. Excellent service, very professional staff. Home before 11pm.

i have went to er here twice with serious life threating emergencies/ my experience was what a person that comes in with these is exactly the way an er should br /one was blood pressure way up there /straight to a room and started on meds to lower it /dr smith was excellent / next was a gallbladder emergency removal /infection and gangorean ? / again very immedeatley is was on my way to surgery which saved my life /i know some are very upset with waiting for 8 to 10 hours (or more) but if people did go here for small things like colds and flues ( if you have no family dr is understandable) then it would not slow down nurses and staff /it takes time to access for level of care you need/ hats off to nurses and staff

I have to comment on my ER visit yesterday to the DECH! I was very impressed from the waiting room care to the friendliness and caring of the staff thru my long wait which I came prepared for. It made that long wait bearable. Everyone was so positive! Except for one doctor who was from Ontario and it was his last day there…fortunately. I left with a good feeling about the care I received since a do not have a family doctor. I even met one of the other patients who was waiting with me at the pharmacy and she was passing the time of day with me in a happy manner. Obviously she had a good experience too.. Things a looking up at the DECH! 👍👍👍BTW I'm a retired nurse.

Bowel Surgery, August 22, 2022, and 4 day stay in semi private room. . Surgeon was the best, top notch. Covid Lock Down on the floor and other floors. so confined to room and needed to walk following surgery. Nurses were sweet and pleasant but I think understaffed. The shared bathroom was filthy, urine all over the floor like a pool. I had to be careful to not step in it with my socks the hospital gives one. Because of the urine, also had to stretch which I was not supposed to do to wash my hands and reach paper towel above the toilet. i complained re the wet urine floor and it was 2-3 hours before it was cleaned, same thing in the morning and during my stay. Garbage, soiled linens not removed regularly. An RN one morning took charge re garbage and soiled gowns. Not sure where housekeeping staff were re room cleaning. I have always had a good experience at DECH and rarely admitted, but I was glad to be discharged without getting a serious infection or Covid. I will never stay in a hospital room again with a dirty bathroom.
