Yes, you will definitely be physically assaulted. I know this first-hand. I suppose this is to be expected since this is a faith-based place. Everyone knows that when religion gets involved, mental, sexual and physical abuse is bound to follow. One day they will be called out for this treatment, but in the meantime, they are counting on mental patients NOT being believed. Yes, Eden, one day your time will come when you’re despicable behavior will be found out!!!

You will be assaulted and sexually assaulted the psychiatrist barely speaks English, he is just a pill pusher, because he cant understand your language. Another Doctor who got a degree in a cracker jack box in a foreign country and came to canada. And when you ask for medical help because you are injured you are ignored.

I feel this place is being used as a place to experiment with people’s mental state! They put you on so much medication until you’re flying high and then they say see ya you are all better. They don’t follow up on medication given and that is ridiculous and can be quite dangerous. Your family physician will look after when they don’t have a hot clue what you have just gone thru or what state of mind you are in. That is not right in my opinion.

This place is better than a big city hospital, of course anything is better than a big city hospital. The patients are all on the same page at least and there are a few things to do, mainly play cards or watch movies but still not too bad. The food is good and you won’t go hungry, nurses for the most part are nice but you are better off talking with patients than staff since most nurses in a care center like this tend to hide behind the desk. On overnights some staff go to sleep and this is probably not a good use of program money, I swear I heard the overnight staff gossiping about a patient but I was half asleep and if anyone believes patient confidentiality exists…you’re wrong. Nurses seemed nice (the female ones at least) and there was a nice Dr there that people thought wa’s rude but I thought he was the best and should’ve been running the show. The leading Dr was my least favorite but this is just my opinion and everyone’s entitled to one, egos aside I’m sure the Dr was okay but seriously, psychiatry is a dead science that should’ve been dropped or better yet never started. Any Dr that believes mental illness can be cured by a pill is insane and controlling the symptoms is like turning up your car radio instead of replacing the muffler. Blame the government and fda for buying into the drug business and fueling it with a never ending list of illnesses with a pill to treat it. The place could’ve done well with a meditation class and just classes in general, like life skills and the like. The latter is probably offered when staff have time, other than that it was a nice place to stay and I was grateful to be there. Patients were very friendly! Thanks!!

Still have nightmares of my time there. Clients are treated like they are "less than" by a majority of the staff. Therapy consists of watching videos, painting bird houses and maybe getting 10 minutes with a psychiatrist once a week. Heaven forbid you need bloodwork. There is no one trained to do that but they will still try again...and again...and again until they finally need to bring you to a real hospital. This happened to me several times. I was nothing but a guinea pig to train poorly qualified staff. Oh, and no conversations are private. Doesn't matter the topic, right there in the middle of the room staff will loudly announce whatever they wish about any client. It was all around a traumatic and humiliating stay.

There is no therapy. No chance to tell your story. The nurses are amazing except for one who ripped me apart and made me feel inferior and ashamed. The doctors spend 30 minutes a week tops and then make diagnosis and prescribe things that will change your life forever

EMHC has only received the generous amount of stars I have provided due to a handful of people. The outpatient unit is okay if you have the right doctor, additionally the reception and pharmacy are great. The inpatient unit is more damaging than helpful in my opinion. I've been forcefully injected, ignored, threatened to be strapped to a table and tackled. I have witnessed other patients being mistreated as well. On the other hand there are a few staff members am I happy to see.
