Had surgery there with Dr Jennings. Both the hospital and Dr Jennings could not have been more perfect

I went to El Camino Hospital ER with a debilitating migraine. I had been trying different treatments at home and suffering for 4 days. I was nauseous and throwing up. When we checked the ER wait-time on their site it said 37 minutes-we rushed over there… The ‘intake’ coordinator I first spoke to was curt to the point of rudeness. I waited a brief time and was called to have my vitals taken. After that is was all down hill. I was first told that there would probably be a 1-2 hour wait. I waited patiently. After 2.5 hrs I checked to see how much longer and they said probably 2 more hours. I waited. When I began to see other apparently non-critical patients who arrived after me being taken back for treatment I began to get aggravated which made my migraine worse. (I tried to stay calm, but, come on!) So, I waited again. Well, long story long, I ended up in the waiting room for 5.5 hours! They finally took me to a small treatment ‘room’ and gave me something for my nausea but nothing that touched my migraine. I am crying by then . They offered the usual excuses and sent me back to the waiting room. Nausea abated but my head continued to pound-babies were crying, people were laughing and talking loudly. 30 min later I was taken to an actual room. I then waited a short time for a doctor who was nice but did not listen to me. He put me on IV fluids. I waited. His nurse gave me 1/2 of my usual dose of meds which provided little relief. Another half hour and I got the second half of med. Relief! After another IVfluid I was discharged. All-in-all I spent 9 hours in that ER. NEVER AGAIN.

Their billing is exorbitant and is a mess. For a simple service (like ultrasound) you can get a bill from a doctor conducting the test and then even higher bill from the lab for “lab services”. And both would be beyond reason.

This hospital is extremely disorganized, resulting in poor service being provided to the patients. Most staff is callous, and not motivated. They only start to respond when there is a clear state of emergency, and even that needs to be brought to their attention. All their actions scream – I am tired, I don’t care and I don’t want to be bothered. It is extremely sad that a newly renovated hospital with some of the latest equipment seem to be mainly driven by desire to overcharge insurance companies while providing as little care to patients as possible. You may be lucky to occasionally run into someone who really cares, but at the end of their shift you will be brought back to the reality. Doctors are very hard to get to, not keeping appointments, always too busy, unable and/or afraid to make any decisions except ones that clearly leave them not be responsible for anything. Stay away from it if you can.

The Hospital bills are enormous. If you have insurance, they rip you off. twenty – thirty thousand dollars for couple of days at hospital. No wonder people go to india for their surgeries..

If the community comes together, I know they can stop the rampant and ongoing greed and abuses at this hospital . Claiming to serve women and children which is categorically false. This expensively outfitted hospital is a mirage. It serves no one , it is always empty with few staff doctors schedulers on duty. The few who do work there treat it as a personal playground yelling at patients. Staff demeanor is unprofessional. Extremely dangerous to folks actually seeking real care and treatments.

This “hospital” has been ruined and taken over by greedy fat cat management. In the 70s and80s and 90s , it used to be a decent hospital. The only good thing about this rotten place is that it's clean. Thanks to the hard working cleaning staff. The social workers, hospitalists are useless, rude and evil.

The pathology lab , ICU, most of the nurses , nutritionists and the janitors are the only hard working people here The dumb low IQ hospitalists and useless snooty social workers are demons and love to kill the elderly and minorities. Yes, there are minorities in hospitalist positions here, doing the work of the demonturd management of this death space.

Let me CLEARLY STATE THIS IS FOR ER ONLY. (Regular day surgery and surgery is AWESOME). Starting from the Triage RN-RUDE and I have had to go to ER many times. When I went by ambulance I bypassed this stage thankfully. One good thing is they now have an RN that will give you medicine while your waiting but only to address a portion of what you need. The triage area left there door open and have a tendency to talk behind patients back, sadly I heard them talking about me and I was too sick to go handle it. When you finally get to see a Dr. it's a 30/70 chance you get a Dr. that isn't scared to take action and truly help you. They are scared to give medicine, scared to take responsibility, they just hope after you relax and maybe get medicine needed or xrays or whatever that things will work out where your comfortable and they can get you out and tell you to see your Dr. One year I was taken by ambulance to ER 5 times. Severe gut pain. 1 time I was lucky got a great ER Dr. who did a CT and said I had a condition and given medicine and he helped greatly. Sadly the condition progressed and finally the 5th visit after being treated as if I was a drug addict seeking meds, (I have my own), I insisted after the ER Dr. said, You got your shot are you ready to go home? I said WHAT? NO I didn't come here for pain medicine, now you go look at test results and figure out what is wrong with my stomach. I was admitted with an intestinal infection. Finally 2 antibiotics via IV started working and then the staff Dr. who had to come in on a Saturday flung the curtain open to my room without wearing a gown as I was infectious, scared me so badly that to this day I am traumatized by her treatment. She YELLED, your not sick and you can go home. Didn't ask me one question, NOT ONE. She was very wrong and I was very sick. My RN treating me begged me to stay till Sunday and talk to patient relations because she said I really need my IV's. However, I was so scared by this point that I left late Saturday night and took oral meds at home which took a long time to heal my gut. Actually orally it made me sick vs. IV. YES I had insurance. The last time I went to ER I had a very bad ear infection. I did advise the Physicians Assistant who was nowhere near ready to deal with real life patients DO NOT TOUCH MY CHEEKS BECAUSE I HAVE TMJ. It's my ear. She ended up coming up from behind me, grabbed my cheeks and pushed her fingers so hard and deep into the TMJ area and said open your mouth TWICE and you can't speak when someone does this to say stop. I now ended up after years of being pain free with my TMJ having issues off and on regularly but after she did this I was in very bad shape with intense pain for over a month. Sadly all my great Dr.s work out of this hospital. What to do?

Dr Jennings did my surgery there. Everybody treated me with respect and left me not worried about anything. The hospital was great but Dr Jennings was better!
