Emergency room is terrible. They made me wait nine hours. Their excuse was that the doctor had my chart in her hand and they kept overlooking me and once they figured that out, they still did not take me next. it was after five hours before they brought to a room after two hours then they came in and took bloodwork the doctor did not come before that to check me out nor did they tell me that I had to wait for the results which took another hour. Then they said they were going to give me a CAT scan waited again two hours. I went in at 12 and I came out at 9:30 this is unacceptable. Worst experience I've ever had. now I would like to have my results for my CAT scan even though they said everything was fine I would like to see them and my lab work and any clinical recordings I called the diagnosis and they said I could not have unless they go through my doctor. This is the last time I will get a CAT scan or lab work done at that hospital. They're just terrible.

our experience has been wonderful from the ER, to diagnostic, to doctors and all other services.
The ER is a 10 out of 10. No waiting and good compassionate caring professionals.

Triage nurse was very helpful, said I would be helped in a moment. Waited for two hours with a hole in my hand, literally a hole in my hand and nobody was helped unless they brought up the fact that they were in severe pain, their chest hurt, etc. There was a lady sitting by the door, the corona police as I like to refer to her. She had a terrible attitude, when an older lady who had been waiting longer than me stated that she was in severe pain she went in to get the nurses attention and came out a few moments later and just held the door for her which by the way holds its self open. This older lady hobbled in pain very very slowly towards the door and I asked if we could get her a wheelchair, which was then responded to by the nurse that she will be fine and she can just take her time. I thought this was very disrespectful. Not only that, I witnessed one person leave out of complaints, and another who came in after myself was let in before all of us claiming she had chest pain. I gave up and went home, figuring I could take better care of myself there. FYI, there were only 2 people before me, and only 1 after they other guy left. Older lady said she waited 5 hours with no one in front of her and hadn’t even seen a nurse or doctor come out

Hello. It is 4:10am on October 2nd. I am sitting in Tim Hortons as I write this after having walked from your hospital. I have been a patient there for almost a week. My first few days in emergency were exceptional. I was admitted and moved to the third floor, room 305. The majority of the staff have been very nice and attentive, even having some exceptional care from a few. Tonight was an exception. Please take note of the duty staff this night. Including Amjad there were other girls on duty. One young girl with straight blonde hair and another young girl. I am sorry I do not know their names. This blonde young girl has been one of the most unprofessional I have encountered. All of their conduct tonight was disgusting. 1:30am, I am trying to sleep with a migraine. Not only do I have the rudest lady in the room next to me who continued to complain everytime I used the washroom or one of my alarms for my IV or meds went off, she still has the large room lights on. These “nurses” were outside my door at the nurses station carrying on their very loud and personal conversations while laughing. This was disturbing to me. As they conversed I overheard them discussing the nights patient list and who in which room needed what. On THREE patients the female nurse relayed not to bother with them as THEY WERE DYING ANYWAY! I was in shock hearing this. All the while this is going on a patient down the hall had been yelling and calling in pain. They talked louder to drown the noise out and complained about why people had to be so whining when they are sick. That conversation lead to them complaining about staffing schedules and not being able to call in when sick themselves. When they had finally separated and got quiet, I went out to explain I needed the light out due to my migraine. It’s 1:30AM. I informed the young blonde nurse I heard them all speaking and they were very loud. She shrugged and said “I know”. I asked her to please have the light turned off. She went to the patient “Edna” and asked her to turn off the light. That set off the rest. Edna complained she couldn’t read in the dark, would have to stare at the ceiling all night since I was so important. The light went out. Edna then started yelling for a lamp. The nurse said she would look. I had closed my door, gotten into bed and layed down to try and sleep. Now my door is opened again and the same nurse is moving chairs and things in my room to find and unplug a lamp from my room. I said ” are your serious right now”? She responded “YES”! I packed, pulled out my IV and was going to leave. Amjad tried his best to get me to go back to bed. He would give me something to help me sleep. I did not want drugs. I wanted a quiet respectful pp lace to heal! He left to find drugs anyway so I proceeded to the elevator with my bag, in my pjs and bare feet. All he wanted was to make sure I knew they were not legally responsible if I left and I was leaving against medical advice. I advised him I had not seen any medical advice and was thankful I was not one of those patients who was dying. I closed the elevator and walked out. I live in another town. I walked in my bare feet with an uncovered IV hole in my arm. Amjad had stopped the bleeding but did not cover it. I now sit in Tim Hortons trying to figure out how to get home. I have a future appt with Dr Howatt, a surgeon. The LAST thing I want to do is ever come back there for care in that ward. I refuse now to have surgery there and will have to find alternative care. What a disgusting disappointment. I will not hesitate to make sure my experience is known. I will be posting this to my social media sites. I have lived in Smithville for more than 50 yrs and worked in the are. I have numerous personal and professional connections I intend to use to make sure people know how their loved ones are being cared for. How horrible for them to know their dying family aren’t even worth checking on. Such an amazing start from emerg to extreme disgust on floor 3. I expect you will take this seriously and address the problem. I don’t hold much hope that the charge nurse will be of much use, she has the worst bedside manner I have yet to experience. I seriously regret my previous donations to the hospital cause and will now redirect future contributions to WLMH. I’m sure I have more to say but I must find a way home. Its 4:52am.
Sincerely,
L P

This hospital may be a small community hospital and small in size, but it is very BIG in heart.
I have many health issues and have unfortunately spent more time than I would like there, but every visit I am surprised by the kindness and compassion of the staff – especially the nurses. On the rare occasion that I am met with someone who does not fill those attributes listed above, if I let someone know my concerns, they take them very seriously and will address them ASAP.
The current President and CEO is an amazing, kind and caring man that truly listens to you and makes you feel like your voice matters.
They are currently expanding their ER department and I can not wait to see what the future holds for this community hospital (as an outpatient, of course!) 😉
