Worst senior care i have ever seen!! My father who is 96 years old has been in the Kelowna General twice for the same issue in the last 5 weeks. this is fluid on the lungs, he can not breathe, he is very unstable on his feet, and on oxygen. Three different doctors see him and three different opinions one says he doesnt need oxygen so we will stop it, another doctor puts him back on different opinion, he cant walk, he cant breathe he lives alone and they say we will send him home with no care he lives by himself! and the transition nurses one in particular must be getting a bonus from interior health for the money she saves them!! she came today and said we are discharging him and he does not qualify for long term care assisted living nothing! He cant breathe! he cant look after himself, she says oh no he is fine he walked 60 meters( it took him 4 rest stops to get his breath, she said he is fine he can walk! he is medically fit are you kidding!!! we said there is no one here to look after him! she said go find some friends, we asked what’s he going to do about meals she said you should be home cooking some meals instead of being here talking to me These people at Kelowna General do not care about seniors!!!! be prepared to end up on the street if you can not look after yourself, as far as im concerned Kelowna General should be bulldozed to the ground and make a parking lot, the care level would be the same. I hope Karma bites this transition nurse big time!!! she said she would even put her own father on the street, what does that say about the care she gives???

Nurses and doctors both played on their phones in emergency, no remorse to move faster even when there’s literally five people in emerge. Most outrageous care I have ever seen. Someone could come in abdomen slit open side to side intestines pouring out, and they would still care more about what’s going on on Facebook.

Went to the ER today with a long term injury, which wasn’t a priority until recently, as I had worse injuries which I was receiving treatments for but was tied into the injury I went to the ER for. I was told that I shouldn’t be coming on July 1st as the services I needed were limited (ultra sound) but mean while the another patient had just come back from ultra sound for an Achilles tendon injury, but I was told to go home take anti inflammatories. I have had a terrible 6 months, multiple herniated discs, achilles injuries, and suffer now from depression, I have osteopenia from the steroids I’m on for psoriatic arthritis and I have to have a doctor making me feel even more negative about myself. The ER was basically empty and I understand because this was not an emergency I may not be using the services properly but I’ve paid my taxes for 45 yrs, I’m not a crackhead, going to the ER so they can find a vain for me or I need a meal or fix, I’m a retired guy who use to ski, surf, ride motorcycles, bicycle, and hike and now I’m mental broken, and feel worse after the poor bedside manners of an emergency doctor, who will one day be 60 and need some help. There is no excuse to make people feel like this, and when all the clinics are closed down and people who don’t have family doctors knock on the ER’s door, is he going to treat them as he did me.

The ER doctor there 4 nights ago, February 9th between 10:30 pm-3 am is the worst doctor I’ve ever heard of – the worst doctor my friend B and his wife V have ever encountered. B was clearly unwell and having heart issues – nausea, shortness of breath, dizziness, weakness, inability to stand or walk but the tests didn’t show what was wrong yet, it’s clear something was. He had had a heart attack a few years back and he recognized the symptoms because they were so similar. Another friend who had open heart surgery for a blocked artery to her heart had the exact same symptoms. Nevertheless, B was kicked out at 3 am and told he was fine despite his protestations to the contrary. He told them “I can’t believe you’re sending me home when I can’t even stand up right now. I’m too dizzy and I can’t walk because I feel too weak, like I’d fall over!” He was ignored. He also told them he wouldn’t make it up the stairs at home and that his handicapped wife who has MS would not be able to support his weight to help him up 15 stairs. He is 6.5 and she is 5.2. The doctor got mad and told him to get up and go home, he was fine. There are not enough negative adjectives for this doctor…negligent, incompetent, shockingly obtuse, frighteningly uncaring. What the hell is he doing as a doctor? He is a psychopath. We are reporting him. If you get this guy, demand to see someone else and record your interactions with him. I wish my friend could have done it but he was too sick at the time and his wife was in shock. He refused to get up and lay at the foot of his hospital bed until the room for another 2 hours. They were ignored and told to go home repeatedly. Because B and V are stoic, and because they knew they would continue to be ignored and because they were exhausted, they mustered up the courage to finally get B in a wheelchair. It took them a half hour to slowly go up the stairs at home. He spent the entire day the next day just sleeping. We are livid at his ordeal and the utter lack of care. Is this what our Canadian health care has come too?

Am beyond upset at the way my spouse was treated in this hospital. I have always been treated well. BUT…. My spouse was not. It was like I was witnessing those hidden videos in care homes.Makes me wonder if it’s because of my spouse’s skin color or just the nurse and doctor involved in my spouse’s substandard care, that felt entitled to treat my spouse poorly because no other staff were around to watch them treat my spouse like they both did…Horrific attitudes in them both….We are each afraid of returning to KGH incase we get this same doctor and nurse again..Beware everyone..you take your life in your hands if you go there like we did..Now we know better…What a nightmare!!

The worst hospital and staff I've ever seen in my life! Unless I'm in a life-and-death situation I would never go to KGH emergency. From what I hear every aspect of Canadian health services is going down the tube which is very disappointing!

Worst hospital in BC. Lazy nurses, terrible doctors, always so unorganized, they treat patients like their health isn't their own decision. Plans are always changing without patients consent. Also you might get a staph infection if you get surgery there so BEWARE!

After having spent upwards of 12 hours in Streaming - sitting quietly, while drug seekers are creating chaios but also being seen... this happened on many occassions for both hubby and myself. Both of us going in because we had significant issues (one thinking appendix attack - sat in streaming for 6 hrs before being seen), having major accidents on the farm and being ignored till I started seizing in the chair.... The dr's and nurses are fabulous for the crap they have to deal with (more drug users then actual physical injuries in waiting room some days). Front staff that is triaging is a mixed bag... some are great but there are some that don't listen to the patient and under value the pain the patient is going through. Be prepared to spend an entire day waiting to be seen. Unlike Vernon, who doesn't cater to drug seekers and you are seen promptly! I now go to Vernon despite living in Kelowna. Even with the drive, I am in and out before I would have even been seen at Kelowna.

The NDP Government has forgotten the value of the largest hospital on the Interior BC. A shortage of staff of all types, especially Registered Nurses is disgraceful. My most recent stay of 8 days had me placed in hallways 6 of 7 nights , with the 6th & 7th placed in the penthouse 6th "Stroke" floor. Comically called the "Dic Dix Floor'. Our health system is falling apart! I am totallyembarrased by what is happening , especially to seniors.
