Lady Minto Hospital should be avoided if possible. There is no urgency in the emergency ward. A person can wait for hours for a doctor to show up while the nurses sit in their office and chat. I’ve been asked by the nurse to administer my own injection, while sitting in the public hallway.

Entered the emergency ward for treatment of a severe gash below the knee. The ambulance and medical staff were excellent. They made a very traumatic experience easier to handle with their skills, professionalism and friendliness. Thank you to all.

I had several occasions to visit this hospital and it has the icest caregivers of any hospital in the Lower Mainland. All doctors on the island rotate and share the daily and nightly shifts there with great competency and excellent care for all the patients. There is also one room especially for palliative care and it very well furnished and the patients that are here are well looked after. I would give them 5 stars in all categories except they have one beautiful operating room but it can only be used for minor procedures as there is no more a General Surgeon on te island. People, keep up your good work

Had request from Drs ignored by staff. Asked for a hair wash for a patient. I was told in front of her, why,she going to die anyways. Not impressed with a few of the staff but there are caring nurses there. You don’t want to say much in case you need there services.

Anyone living on Salt Spring Island will tell you that the level of care here is, at best, scary. It is common knowledge that the head of Nursing is not only a bully but incompetent. I have spoken to a nurse who has worked around the world and she indicated that she had never seen anything like it, anywhere. From inner city LA to remote locations in northern BC. I think it’s high time for a serious re-evaluation of things here… I have heard COUNTLESS stories of sub-par care… I just pray that if I do have a serious accident it’s not on this island. For anything other than stitches, do yourself a favour and go to Victoria…

The front end staff are very helpful and the nurses seemed top notch. The current chief of staff is openly hostile to patients, dismissive, displays a lack of empathy and professionalism in her role. She has set a tone that filters down her staff. I have met a few wonderful Doctor's at this hospital that would be much better suited for this position and bring up quality of patient care and moral.

Lady Minto Hosp has served my family for 25 yrs. ER is short staffed but care is excellent. Drs on call stretched thin, but care for serious injury excellent. Minor problems may have to wait, but full points for staff. Big loss when the Surgery closed but prompt care and transfer to off-island facilities ASAP.

Our dear Mom has been in care at LMH, ECU for this past year. We could not wish for a better place for our Mom, the staff there are gifted and provide such a personal, sincere and gentle care for all of the patients in their care. This hospital needs more funding in every way, the demand for extended care will only continue to increase. An amazing place on earth!

Not a bad hospital for a small community. Newer building, clean. ER was great, prompt service! They took me in almost immediately. But on the ward was a loopy young student nurse, Katelynn, she seemed pretty overwhelmed. The nursing supervisors might consider supervising these young girls more carefully, she could use a bit more guidance, I think. I'm sure she'll improve in time.
