The worst experience! My daughter in law has been here since last Saturday night, (sep 9) today is Friday (sep 15) She was fully dilated and the doctor checked her cervix twice , she noticed the baby was not descending at all due to being a big baby, she said my daughter in law has a high pelvic bone. But still said she can continue pushing ! She did for about 3 hrs , baby's heart beat was getting high. That's when they decided to do a C-section ! And now my daughter in law has an injury in her urethra from her right kidney. She's been with a catheter on since last Sunday! They keep doing blood tests scans , and haven't come back with a solution ! Worst service and hospital I've ever been! If the doctor noticed the baby was too big to descend and my DIL pelvic bone was to high , why she made her push for so many hours ! They said her iré that got injured because when they made the cut to their uterus the baby was a bit stuck so when they pulled him out , the uterus had a tear l, injuring her urethra. Please don't deliver your babies here if you can! Still up until now 4pm on Friday and we don't have any answers for a treatment to fix her urethra. A total negligence!!!

I had a pretty good experience here. Most of my nurses were lovely, only a couple were snarky towards my midwife, and I felt so cared for delivering my first son. I had pretty severe preeclampsia and was in for a total of 6 days and 5 nights. We did have one issue – Dr. Patel. That woman is a monster and her license to practice should be revoked. I wouldn’t give in to her pressure for a c-section right that minute, and she basically told me I would kill myself and my baby if I didn’t do as she said (obviously she was wrong), among other things. I would never ever let her near me ever again and neither should you. All of my other doctors were fantastic, compassionate, knowledgeable, caring, and fully supported me through a very shocking change to my anticipated birth experience. It turned out nothing like I had hoped, but they made accepting the change a lot easier – especially the nurses in labour & delivery. They were absolutely wonderful.
Except that Dr. Patel. Pretty sure she’s a sadist. Evil, evil, evil woman.
The facilities I found to be clean and tidy, they made room for me to have a private suite for recovery, and I have no complaints. The floors were also fine. Not sure if cleaners came in or not as I was very out of it, but keep in mind the conditions women give birth in all over the world and a bit of a dusty floor won’t matter too much in the long run.
Also, those reading the comments, do take into consideration that all reviews are through the individual’s perspective and typically people don’t take the time to leave nice reviews. The reviews section is where many frustrations are vented; not all experiences are negative 🙂

Horrible horrible experience.. the doctor killed my son. It was her fault my son was born as early as he was. She told me she needed to check my cervix to see how dilated I was. I was hesitant because I already had it checked hours before from another doctor while I was being checked in etc.(after being flown in from fort McMurray) This doctor did not check my cervix I am almost CERTAIN SHE GAVE ME A SWEEP!!!!! I WENT INTO LABOUR ABOUT 2 HOURS LATER. I WASNT GIVEN STEROID SHOTS OR ANYTHING TO HELP MY BABY when I arrived. .which caused my son to be born at 24 weeks. The next day after losing my son she came into the room to give me a prescription, she saw my husband who is Lebanese and asked him where he was from and she said “oh…I didn’t know”….then said she was Syrian….it was just very strange….it’s been almost 3 years and it still haunts me and makes me so upset and angry.

After a spinal MRI on March 28 a surprise finding showed up. The next week was doctor’s visit and a ultrasound showed a mass growing on my ovary. I wasn’t too worried, but yes, the C word was possible. I waited a few weeks and got additional blood work done and when leaving the lab I got a call for an appointment with gynecological oncology department at the Cross. Ok, worry started to set in. It was Friday and the appointment was for the Wednesday. I was shocked to get an appointment so quick.
The appointment day was eye opening and was open and honest with everything. I’ve never been treated so well and that the doctor wasn’t judgemental, make assumptions, of preach to me about why I never went and dealt with my problems. Nope, just this point forward and fix the problem. Ya, usual exam and such lead to hope that it wasn’t cancer and that because of my age, almost 51, it would be best to clean me out of my girl parts–everything! What shocked me was they weren’t booking surgeries months down the road, they could have done it scheduled and done in nine days! At this point I had to hold my head still, is it that serious? I said do it the next week and that ended up being May 11. I was in a state of shock in a way! Our health care doesn’t work that fast! Apparently it does!
Monday the 12th came and Dr Sabourin and Macumber did what their job. The mass was rather large and initially came back as benign. So far do good. The floor I was on didn’t have too many patients, but I ended up with a private semi-private room for my stay. The nurses were incredible and the other staff were just as great! Good attitudes, happy, friendly and attentive staff. I stayed two nights and was sprung on Wednesday.
It was my first major, knock me out and slice me open, surgery and the doctors, nurses, and staff left a good impression. Despite COVID being a problem, everyone was business as usual and as professional. Thank you for being so kind when having my first every, at almost 51, major surgery a positive experience.

Had my day surgery performed here in the summer FOR A CYST WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE ENDOMETRIOSIS. There is no endo specialist at this hospital- if you do not want ablation and do not want a botched attempt at deep excision and do not want birth control shoved down your throat try Sturgeon or Misrecordia/Grey nuns gynecology and check out the endo network instead and please read ratemd before being referred to any gyno and consenting to having surgery or baby at this place. Most people are honest about their reviews- frankly I sure wish I did my research before. Family docs lie too-beware and do your own research when selecting a specialist and gyno practice. If you live in north Edmonton it doesnt mean you have to go to this place, note there are other options and trust me 1 screwed up surgery often means another surgery- dont make the same mistake I did.
