Went into emergency ward, confused and not speaking. Was asked to go into washroom for urine test with NO help, fell, hit my shoulder and back of head on cement floor. Had to stay there for 5 weeks and then to Rehab hospital on University where I stayed for 5 weeks also. Was a big waste of time all around and found out down the line, they put I had a stroke – what? – I did not have a stroke, My license got immediately taken away and took 1 1/2 years to get back. In rehab did useless tests and excercise that did nothing for me. Markham Stoufville put down stroke to cover their butt! and put my through l0 wekks of hospitals and 1 1/2 years of
rehab for nothing. They don’t care to assist people for washroom duties, or anything else, nurses just don’t care anymore.

My mother got MRSA at this hospital. A couple of years later, she acquired c. difficile there, and died. Yet a couple of years later, I heard a PR flak saying they’d never had a death from c. difficile. I would never, ever allow anyone I care about to be admitted there.

Virtually zero communication between Nurses; Doctors; Staff; Porters; Accounting. Some brilliant doctors there but they are working in an information vacuum. ‘Sister’ hospital in Uxbridge, made even worse- they don’t even communicate with each other.

Family member in for five weeks prior to death. Neglected most of time – calls for assistance slow to be answered, if at all. Housekeeping of room abysmal. No help at mealtime.

Anyone know of a worst hospital than this one in Canada?

This hospital killed my father. He died from infection of a bed sore from their ineptitude. I caught a nurse about to overdose one of the medications. He pleaded never to go back to 1C or they would kill him. We tried to transfer him out but there was no room. They put him back in 1c and he died in under a week. I have so many horror stories from this hell hole. I lost my unborn baby and another hospital said they probably could have saved my pregnancy. I've told my family that unless I am dying and the ambulance won't take me somewhere else, to never take me there. This is the worst hospital in existence.

Birthing here is Russian roulette. Most of the labour and delivery nurses were rude, treated me like I was being insubordinate- I wanted to go to the bathroom and they yelled at me to get back in bed because I didn't ask to remove the fetal monitor first. They threatened me saying I'd need an emergency c section if there was something wrong because I didn't listen to them. When I got back in bed the baby was fine, so they threatened me for nothing. Another nurse performed a vaginal exam that I tried to decline, or at least delay until the doctor was available, and she wouldn't give me a choice. She SHOOK her hand up and down vigorously while it was still inside my body and said “see the baby is fine”. This was traumatizing. This was rape.

I was a patient in the Markham Stoufffville Hospital from January 2nd - 10th 2020. My wife and I found Dr. Andrew Patterson to be very unprofessional, abusive, very argumentative and aggressive about everything. He does not like questions. I was also told by one of the unit nurses one night that I was not allowed to have a bowel movement at night only in the day time. These issues were reported the next morning to the unit Manager. After speaking friends that have had patients in this unit we were surprise to all the negatives. This behaviour is unacceptable at many levels. He should not be a doctor because of his abusive mannerisms and unprofessionalism. He is very unhappy person and a male chauvinist. He works under the umbrella for Markham Stouffville Hospital as Chief of the Palliative unit. He needs to learn how to fellow there guidelines, the Ministry of Health. He Should not take his anger out on patients and there families while they are dealing with significant stress already

My wife ( 77 years old with a broken arm ) and me attended MSH Emergency Dept 7.00 pm Monday evening. Small sign said " Line up here and a triage nurse will see you shortly " So we lined up in a hallway for 1hr and 25 mins.! just to see a triage nurse. There are only two triage stations and the line up was at least 40 yards. Behind us was a middle aged man and woman . Woman was curled up in a wheelchair and in obvious distress. Man spoke to a nurse and enquired length of wait. Nurse estimated 1 .1/2 hours. Man asked nursed if there was somewhere his wife could lie down while waiting. Was curtly told there were no beds and she would just have to wait in wheelchair. Oh yes after triage another one and a half hours to see Dr. Understand Ontario taxpayers pay MSH CEO over $410.000. THINK WE ARE BEING STIFFED.
