One of the worst experiences of my life. My GP, catering, cleaning staff and nurses were all wonderful. The Psychiatry team did not specialise in my condition and yet were in charge of my treatment and have caused more mental health damage to me than I can even begin to explain, they did not contact my GP who had referred me before making life altering decisions about my care. They have the final say there and it is the most dangerous environment when someone treats you who doesn't specialise in your condition. Do not go here under any circumstances and if you do ensure your psychiatrist specialises in the reason you are there.

Great catering. Forced into 'Group' sessions which are frequently run by less than competent staff. NO opportunity to rest (because the Clinic makes money from your Medical Fund with every 'Group' attendance). Have seen patients post ECT literally drooling in a wheelchair, begging to be allowed to lie down but forced to 'attend group'. Much good work done here, also much to be desired. Many kindly staff, especially the cleaning and catering staff and some lovely nurses who seem to be 'carrying' the others?

Very polite and friendly staff. Dr Lee is understanding and informative. I am made to comfortable with every visit and also given helpful guidance. An excellent facility.

It keeps costing more to go there and one gets less and less. If it wasn't for my private psychiatrist, I would never go there. A dead place with head staff who have no real life experiences. The cleaners & the chefs are the only good things. Medication is only given by one nurse and OFTEN incorrectly. Nurses show lack of interest, only going through the motion. Useless place. Close it down NOW.

They get five stars for their facilities and nursing, cleaning, kitchen and other key staff. What they lack in the overarching people who manage their structure is diplomacy and responding to feedback. Regardless of how much money you have made them through your health fund, once you’re not making them more rich liking the pockets of both the Director, Psychiatrists and other head people, and you argue your case, they simply ignore you! Even if you send an email out regarding access to your medical records and ramping up security of these because of a legal case (not related to them but one that is crucial and your data needs to be protected), they don’t even respond! They have ZERO interest in you once you have been discharged unreasonably by a Psychiatrist affiliated with them and the Director makes no attempt to conciliate. The nursing and other staff are the critical people here and they go out of their way to help you, well, most do anyway! Some just want to administer medication and get the heck out of there! Pity the actual head staff are very limited in their complaints handling process. But of course, if you’re not viable to them with $ signs in their eyes (because it IS at the end of the day a business!), then they don’t want to know you!

As an inpatient, the service is generally pretty good with amazing staff most of the time. There’s a few âbad eggs’ here and there, but otherwise usually pretty good. However, as an outpatient – psychiatrists can take forever to book into (even as a patient), and some receptionists can feel a bit uncaring of why you’re here – which considering the field, can be quite hard to keep coming for recovery.

If you have the privilege of being able to afford top tier private health insurance, Perth clinic is great for ongoing treatment and care when you’re not in a crisis, but still in need of acute care. Group therapy is extensive and thorough and the DBT course was the most effective therapy I’ve ever received in terms of teaching me coping skills and how to deal with BPD symptoms.
However, if you come in and expect to be cured from a short term stay alone, you will be disappointed. You have to want help, and be willing to put the work in for it. You get as much as you put in to your treatment, and since it is private, they don’t control you or your belongings – it is up to you if you feel you shouldn’t leave or cannot be in possession of certain items. There are also multiple cases of non supportive parents paying for their kids to stay while not doing any of the recommended work involved in terms of being a supporter, nor taking any personal responsibility for their child’s upbringing and blaming Perth clinic because they’re not âgetting betterâ straight away, or for problems they themselves have caused- I would be wary of negative parents reviews for that reason.
Are there other mental health services out there for better value? Yes, probably, but the benefit of PC is that you’re getting specialised care without discomfort and excessive wait times and overcrowding prevalent in the public system. It sucks but, until extensive psychiatric services are accessible to all under Medicare, Perth Clinic is a suitable service for the privileged class.

I was over medicated as well as never being listened to, I was in for weeks before finding out the course I was waiting for wasn’t running and they’d just been making my mum pay for me to be there for nothing – this is on top of the nurses finding a razor blade I snuck inâ¦.. they let me keep it so of course I self harmed, badly.
Eventually they kicked me out because I cried too loudly because I was so upset when I found out they’d been leading me on about the course.
Absolutely disgustingly unprofessional, if you care even slightly about your loved ones you will choose ANY mental health facility except this one.
To this day I have lasting trauma from what Perth Clinic did to me. I can’t express most of it as it’s simply too distressing.

If you need help don’t expect to get it at this place. The whole purpose of this place is to estimate how much money you have and to drain you as long and as much possible. The doctor involved is Stella Fabrikant but would not expect any different from others. Would not be surprised if this is the company policy and if the doctors have targets to fulfill.
