Psych unit nurses are not involved in patient care besides medications. No techniques to decrease anxiety, no counselling. Just sit behind their glass wall and disgruntled, slide open the window to address you. THINGS were different when the RNA’s were working, Jack, in particular was fantastic. But he’s not an RN so can’t work there. This is wrong on so many levels. RNs don’t feel they should be doing the menial work of actually caring for their patients, just the admin side which they do all shift, every shift. Bring back people who are empathetic to the issues presented in this environment. No care here, just a bed and meals and meds. Sad.

Speaking about the psych unit itself years ago. Smelly, horrible food, verbally abusive nurses, nothing to do. Worse than jail. Dangerous fellow patients.

My experience with mental health in Powell river is , I went in voluntarily, and wound up being signed in sneakily ,by dr Ramirez she had to ask an orderly how to do it I saw that with my own two eyes, I wanted some help I knew things were not right with me so I had to convince them , then they messed with me it was a nightmare and I am seeking a lawyer in the meantime a horrible experience worse than any nightmare I ever had .
