Nursing in the geriatric facility is generally quite poor. There are some fantastic nurses there but overall most do t seem to realize that they are looking after people, not just bed numbers.

I was in the Emergency department on Thursday May 11th 2023 in area A from 10am-7pm. The triage nurse and the Dr I saw were absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to deliver excellent care. The Nurses overseeing Area A however were absolutely horrendous and could not have been ruder or more disrespectful to patients. I have the utmost respect for Healthcare Workers but the treatment patients received by Lori and Natalie was deplorable. Berating patients in the middle of a multiple bed treatment area is disrespectful and uncalled for. Not one single patient in that Area deserved to be treated the way they were including the adolescent male and mother that were given a cancer diagnosis. Lori and Natalie if you can’t be kind to your patients how can you expect patients to be kind to you. Shame on both of you for the lack of empathy you showed to all your patients in that area. Remember the patients you see are likely have one of the worst days of their life and you making it worse doesn’t help. You both should be fired .

I was just seen by an emergency MD at RGH. I had been having menstrual bleed for 2 weeks, pelvic pain and was worried that prompted me to go to an emergency hospital. Waited for 3.5 hours until I was called, saw this Doctor. I told him about my menstrual bleeding for 2 weeks and based on my understanding as I’m also a nurse that It’s not normal. What he told me was “Why do you have to come to me? Strong tone! It made me feel that in his mind I have no legit purpose to go to an emergency hospital! Why not go to your Family MD. Explained to him of same that my family MD would just refer me to a gynaecologist that will be like months to years of wait. And I feel there is an urgency for me to go to an emergency room as I’m having pain, long menstrual duration and an old U/S result that no gynaecologist have seen yet. I mentioned to him that I was already referred to a gynaecologist but no one called me in 8 months time. He replied, “I’m not a gynaecologist”. I showed him my U/S result of my pelvic area and it showed I fave some fibroids and cyst on my endometrium. He briefly looked at the date, I saw he didn’t read it but the date. He also mentioned and I quote, “You don’t look like you’re from here?” I was wondering what he meant by that! How does a Canadian supposed to look like? Of course, I’m Asian, I will look like Asian but I’m still a Canadian! I told him, I lived in Canada for 22 years. He left the room, I have no words for him! Nurse gave me ibuprofen for pain. Ordered urinalysis and BW! I realized he wasn’t gonna order a test for me! I changed to my own clothes, left the room and sat at the hallway close to the nurse’s station waiting for bloodwork! He passed by me several times but does not even look at me! He suddenly called my name towards where people are waiting! As the nurses pointed at me, he didn’t say a word too and just left. Since I provided all my bw and urinalysis, I decided to leave as I felt this MD made me feel I’m not worth to be seen by him at the Rockyview General Hospital. I’m only rating this MD not the hospital!

In 2014 my girlfriend and I went to the Rockyview hospital emergency room. My girlfriend had swelling in her eye as well as redness . It was after clinic hours so we made the mistake of going to this hospital. We waited for a couple hours until my girlfriend got in to the incompetent doctor. He looked about 55-60, grey hair, thin. I don’t know his name. He said he would have to check if there was pressure in her eye. She CLEARLY said “ I have issues with people touching my eyes’. Before we knew it he had out his instrument and went in to touch her eyeball. My girlfriend screamed and said “ I don’t feel well, somethings wrong”. Before we knew it my girlfriend passed out, and had a seizer from the stress the doctor caused. She wouldn’t wake up so he got me to go get a nurse , and unfortunately we got a very incompetent nurse I knew from Sheldon Chumir. My girlfriend couldn’t wake up so they wheeled her into another room. The nurse hooked her up to a IV, looked very annoyed and turned the IV on so FAST that it made loud noises with every pump! After about 5 mins she woke up but the iv made her pee and throw up! It was so fast I’ve been told that an IV can kill someone’s. It’s suppose to be a slow drip. After about an hour of lying down the nurse pulled up a wheelchair and said to go….. my girlfriend was freezing cold and had a seizure !! After we got home she never felt the same. For two months she had to take a leave if absents from work. My girlfriend was mostly sleeping for two months to the point that I’d call it a coma. It’s been a few years now, but considering that hospital almost killed someone’s I love and care about,im going to make a complain to the physicians and surgeons . I can’t imagine how many patients this doctor and nurse have hurt. If I thought the Physicians and surgeons board would fire them I would have complained sooner. With almost every complain I’ve made police reports. Something to have a record on file. Karma to that doctor and nurse. If I remembered your names I’d advertise them on here. I plan on getting a copy of the medical file of that night!

Stay away from this hospital. If you need to go to an emergency go to the South hospital or Foothills

Terrible staff. Nobody does there job nor do they get paid for. Wait time is too long for the little amount of people they actually see. 0/10

I went today with my Wife and took my daughter who is Pregnat, 23 weeks. She called us at 2.30 am and arrived to the Hospital at 3 am .. we waited in the emergency Room until 10 am and simply left. No Doctor ever saw her. During the weekend on Sunday she threw up after eating a dates pudding. Today she couldn't talk or swallow anything ,all her gums are swollen and huge pain on her left ear. She will try to go to the walk-in with her familiy Doctor. BUT Guys Honestly.. what is this?? . I work for a major developer and provider of dicom digital equipment and get to travel all around the world.. I HAVE NEVER EVER seen this

My husband went in for knee replacement surgery, too much discrepancy between nurses, some of them were good, some not so good. It's sad to see that this is what happens now in the hospitals. I don't think i would recommend this hospital. Upon leaving they have a patient loading and unloading zone at the front which cars just sit there for sometimes past the 15 minute time period which was our case, this person could clearly see we were struggling with getting close enough to the curb, he just sat there, I finally approached and asked if he could please make some room so I could load my husband. Needless to say no one seems to monitor the cars out front and the fact that it is also a sloped approach, good luck.

My GF 42yo went in for a kidney stone surgery now has a full blown infection in her body that has gotten into her eyes. Mostly from the stint put in for surgery. So she's literally a test rat now. Please make sure your OR room is clean and sterilized. My GF is looking at losing her eye site now. Not impressed at all. Need accountability

I had an incredibly frustrating experience with Dr. Fox. After waiting over 6 hours and having only one blood sample taken, I was given less than 10 minutes of his time. I felt dismissed and unheard from the moment he entered the room, as he seemed to have reached a conclusion without properly assessing my symptoms. Despite the clear physical signs of my condition, including a swollen eye, lump in my wrist, and swollen throat, Dr. Fox did not examine these areas and even denied seeing the swelling. The conversation was filled with awkward pauses and dismissive comments, making me feel like I had to convince him of the legitimacy of my pain. His suggestion that I diagnose myself and reliance on a single round of blood work to disregard my symptoms was incredibly unprofessional. I was told to see my family doctor, who was currently vacation, and left the hospital feeling worse than when I arrived. I'm still in pain, still swollen, and now also angry. His failure to acknowledge my symptoms, his condescending tone, and refusal to investigate further were both infuriating and alarming. I was particularly upset by his dismissal of my high white blood cell count, platelets, and lymphocytes, while focusing solely on my iron levels. His determination that I had the flu, despite my ongoing treatment with an internal medicine specialist for bone pain, fatigue, and other issues, showed a lack of curiosity and care. Overall, my visit with Dr. Fox was a deeply distressing experience, and I left feeling disrespected and undervalued as a patient. His lack of empathy, proper examination, and willingness to dig deeper into my symptoms has not only left me in continued pain but also shaken my trust in medical professionals.
