Worst psychiatric facility in the nation. Awful experience. Never been treated by health staff who lack such compassion.

The Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital is a major public hospital located in Brisbane, Australia. It was expected that I be grateful for receiving life-saving surgery from this hospital when, in fact, all staff did was condemn me to a living hell. Not only did they fail to obtain my informed consent prior to surgery, but they then failed to warn of the likely debilitating outcomes. To deny a patient of the right to refuse treatment is a blatant disrespect of their autonomy.

The mental health services here left my partner in a room with no phone in the dark with no care after they had an attempt. Inhumane and awful humans who should not be treating people ever. Go work at Woolies of something instead of being a doctor or nurse.

There is a room within the H Ward of the mental health unit of the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital on Butterfield Street, Brisbane, a glass enclosed room that serves as the punishment room. It's also where women are force fed. For me it was the rape room. Three years on I only have to see a clear glass panel and I am back there.

The staff employed at the mental health unit of the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital are adept at identifying psychosis but even more adept at creating it through abuse of interred patients who have been innocent or unlucky enough to wind up there.
Next time you see a broken human being living on the streets, chances are you are witnessing the outcome for that human of having spent time in this place or a place very much like it.

Pretty disappointed with the discharge of my partner who had serious head injuries and bleeding on the brain to be told after 4 days he could go home because they needed the bed space and if I couldn’t pick him up they would put him in a taxi. Was sent home way too soon with no choice.

I stayed in the mental health ward for two and a half weeks, and it was the worst experience of my life. The experience of being in this hospital was more traumatic than the experience of being unwell. I had nurses laugh at me, and make fun of me (thinking that I was too unwell to understand). They gave me a LOT of medication, and when I asked what the medication was for, they did not tell me. I have scars on my arm from the multiple blood tests I had to take (they were so rough with me). There were a few nurses that were lovely – especially Sorraya – but most were not. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity. If a patient is unwell, they may not remember everything you say or do (because of all the medication they are forced to take) but they will always remember how you made them feel.

I cannot recommend this Hospital Enough , they had a hell of a job trying to stabilize my blood pressure and pain due to the dissections in my carotid artery and in my aortic vessels running to the kidney.
Also the numerous anurisms .
The doctors and the nursing staff should be praised in my book , while I was a patient I went from ward’s 7B North
To 8B to 9B the nurses deserve a huge pat on the back they are impeccable and respectful .
A big congratulations and thank you to the royal Brisbane for an impeccable Hospital.
