After a recent hospital stay I was automatically given home care nursing from the Saanich Health Unit, and it has been a horrible experience. Due to past issues, I requested a female nurse to visit mid-afternoon and instead they sent a male nurse in the early morning. He was rude and condescending, and generally unprofessional. I told the Saanich Health Unit that I did not wish to be treated by Mr. Mohammad again, and for three weeks it worked fine. Then Mr. Mohammad showed up in the early morning without an appointment, and I found him staring in my bedroom window! I cancelled all future home support, and then discovered that this creep had put offensive comments in my private medical records. Now I am permanently tagged because this unprofessional nurse got his feelings hurt. I will never accept any services from Saanich Health Unit ever again!

(I am not sure that this is the correct agency, but it is the name that I was given.)
The male nurse that they sent to provide my post-surgery home support was very rude and condescending, and he clearly hates his job. I know that because he told me every two minutes that he hates treating patients and never wanted to be a nurse. I informed his manager and told them that I wanted a different nurse for future visits, but they refused.
The moral of the story is that patients should fight to avoid being discharged from the hospital, because home support services do not actually exist in Saanich.
