My granddaughter Danayla Grace Locklear is 5 yro, with cerebral palsy was in a horrific accident October 8, 2021. She was very frightened breathing was shallow. She was obviously in pain but very still, afraid to move. Dr Sharma was the ER Physician that night. She was taken very well care of quickly. CT reveal she had possible ruptured intestines. The decision was made to send her to Levine’s Children’s Hospital in Charlotte NC, it was raining and too dangerous to fly, she could not be air lifted but 3 paramedics from Cumberland took her and my daughter by ambulance.
Our baby was critical and needed emergency surgery. When they opened her up it was her stomach that had ruptured. She coded and was put on life support for 4 days. She was in ICU about 2 weeks, then we were moved to Peds for 4 and 1/2 weeks a total of 6 and 1/2 weeks she ended up having 4 surgeries and a feeding tube. She is home now and doing well, feeding tube is removed and she’s eating anything she wants. We were told 4 days before we came home that we would be there 6-8 more weeks, she was scheduled for surgery December 3 and if things went as planned she would need one more as soon as they felt it was safe for the other surgery. I told my daughter we weren’t going to stay there and God could heal Danayla before December 3rd. We had been praying and lots of prayers were going up. That night I was asleep on the couch and I heard that little voice call E’Momma, then again I heard her and I started to cry because I thought I was dreaming, then she yelled E’Momma! I look at that little bed and I could see her eyes shining in the night lights looking straight in mine through those rails I said hey Daya, she said hey E’Ma. She said E’ma pray!! She did that 4 times that night… daylight came and we knew our prayers had been answered and Daya was going to be alright. Every day for the next 4 days when the doctors came in, ordering tests and xrays they were more and more surprised by the 4th day they told us if we could take as good of care of her at home as we did there she could go home after lunch if that went well and there was no more throwing up or stomach pain. She had been pain free those past 4 days
There is no doubt in my mind that the very people from the start of this ordeal was right where they needed to be. I start with Scotland Memorial 1st because it was Dr Sharma’s experience and knowledge along with a wonderful team that all worked together from the EMTs, the lady’s in Housekeeping who cleaned the room and made sure we had warm blankets, the Phlebotomists , PCTs, Nurses, X-ray Techs and Radiologists, the Receptionist, the Lady upfront who made sure we had our mask and protective wear on. Everyone that night was on top of their game, I thank them all for being on the front line, professional, kind and they all treated us with dignity. I know God has a plan for our little girl and He also has a plan for everyone we encountered that cold rainy night, that was the most terrifying night I’ve lived through. I thank God for everyone of you and I can say from the bottom of my heart everyone of you have the heart for what you do and the skills to carry it out. Thank you for a job well done we don’t know you all but we love and pray that you all continue doing the things that needs to be done that gave us so much peace and confidence that our baby was going to be ok.
    God bless you all.

Many told me their family member should not have died there. I did not believe it, but now I know better from experience with them.
