almost no one here and was in waiting room for over 5 hours, in a room for 2 hours before Dr popped in for 20 minutes and said he would right back. Still waiting after 1 hour. Never said who he was, was reluctant to do examination and finally did upon the insistence of my wife. I was told an emergency resulted in the long room wait the first time.

Living in the south end of the city, I’ve wondered why the wait times at this hospital are the lowest in the city. I’ve also wondered why I keep hearing it being referred to as Seven Jokes. Well I had both answered this morning. I travelled there at around 3:00 AM because the wait time was only three hours to have my lung drained. I was diagnosed with lung cancer last week and haven’t had the surgery I need to put in a permanent drainage tube until chemo starts. I was told that any hospital could drain my lung in the interim, I’d just have to endure the wait times. I had the lung drained twice at the Victoria, but was exhausted last night and decided to try Seven Oaks. I had an X-ray done right away and was taken in to see a doctor right away. His first question was whether I needed pain killers- strange question. When I told him what I needed done, he informed me that he wasn’t going to drain the lung because there wasn’t enough fluid in it, in his opinion.
I told him that I was advised not to wait as long as I had before, because the last time, the volume of fluid caused my lung to collapse. That didn’t seem to move him at all so he showed me this morning’s X-ray compared to the last one and commented that it would have been easy to drain it last time compared to this morning. The take away for me… if it ain’t EASY, they ain’t gonna help you! No wonder their wait times are low- no one wants to go there unless all they need is a bandaid! So heed my warning- if you need competent medical help, go to a real hospital!

While we did wait for 8.5 hours in the waiting room, once taken in to a room the service from the doctor and the nurses and staff was excellent. My wife was incredibly well cared for. My thank you to the staff of Seven Oaks for our treatment. It’s not the doctors, nurses, and support staffs fault that Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Canada in general has an improperly run, poorly managed, and understaffed health care system.

Personally would not recommend. My father died here 16 years ago screaming out for help. A nurse who was sitting at desk on computer finally came over.
Presently my mother has severe breathing problems has waited 7 hours in Urgent care. Way to go Palliser, good decision, hope your toes are in the ocean water and your butt is in the sand.

It’s so disappointing when you’re waiting so long and nobody seems to update you on what’s going on your case then ask to speak to a doctor. A heath care aide will give you an attitude as why u need to see a doctor and be stern with you. Such a very RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL on this staff to behave that way towards a patient inquiry. Patience have the right to ask questions. Health care aids DO NOT discuss and can’t make arguments regarding patience medical inquiries. Staff should know their duties and limitations accdgly and instead be more compassionate and understanding to those who have medical problems that’s why there in the hospital , not to look for a fight but for medical care.
