More than a little annoyed. My brother needs puffers to help him with Asthma attacks and just to keep breathing. went to Soldiers today to get the prescription renewed, was told outpatients is only open one day a week now, from 3-7. do you have any idea the kind of 'backlog' that's going to create? Seeing a doctor to get any medication refilled is already a 3-4 hour slog. Now it's likely a whole day affair. Personally I can handle the wait but my brother depends on this medication not to die. I can understand the stress the medical system is under, I can, but one day a week is unacceptable.

My 2 year old son almost died from this hospital misdiagnosing him not once but twice!! I took him into Valley Regional and he was immediately taken in and admitted we were there for two weeks.. the doctor on call told me to never take him to Middleton again and next time just to come straight to Valley Regional, he said it happens far more often that you’d think the doctors at Middleton Hospital misdiagnosing patients.. their was another time their was this very old doctor, he was extremely shakey and while he was stitching my 3 year olds chin he dropped the needle in his eye!! The nurse told me the doctor has MS..if he has MS and his hands are that shakey he should not be providing medical care.. I know other dozens other people who have been misdiagnosed as well by this hospital . I do not recommend going there, theirs also this woman doctor who is EXTREMELY rough and unprofessional.. I don’t know how she hasn’t lost her license yet. It seems are if she blames the patient for everything and does not care about the patient and is more focused on inflicting pain on the patients.. she is very rude, she told me that the reason I have diabetes is because I am ” fat” her exact words..and that I eat enough for a family..

Poor Hospital….Appears province has totally ignored or forgotten about the place. The staff for the most part come across as being over worked & very tired… and don’t have the time to carry out proper patient care , and are always burdened with lack of equipment and resources.

Nurses are not able to answer my questions or concerns. Doctor seemed distracted, and inattentive.
Cafeteria had only two sandwiches that did not appear fresh. Not even a pot of coffee or hot water for tea made. And it was noon hour.
Never seen an environmental service worker in 3 days. Had to empty my spouses own waste container.
Not to mention bathe him myself, and request the bedding to be changed since my spouse had vomited on it.
They tend to quickly dismiss patients only to see them return the next day with the same symptoms or worsening.

The palliative care services were outstanding. The cafeteria food was decent and affordable. The hours didn’t seem consistent though. A cafe separate from the cafeteria would be a nice addition. Parking can get expensive, if you have to come and go from the hospital daily. One cleaner and a few nurses were not considerate of my dying mother when she rested. They didn’t use their “inside” voice and didn’t seem to make any effort to initiate any sort of noise control. Yes, they have a job to do but, if others can do this without being disruptive, I don’t see any reason why they can’t either. A time or two, my mum’s pain medication was forgotten. Family members should not have to run after nurses to remind them it’s time for a patient’s medication. Overall, however, the 3 weeks spent at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital were more positive than negative.
