In late 2021 due to encephalitis i spent 10 weeks in SJOG Subiaco. The standard of care i received from Doctors and nurses was absolutely exemplary every day and in every way. Their total focus was on my care and i would recommend this hospital to anyone who needs a hospital bed.

One of the paramedics bullied and mocked me for overdosing on drugs, he referred to me as a “junkie.”

Terrible management. Very unprofessional to be dishonest about what has it or has not happened to a patient.

Spent 2 days in ward 44 and had the very best kind caring attention ever. Nothing was too much trouble from all the staff . They put me completely at my ease reassured me every step of the way and honestly couldn't have done enough for me and my husband explaining everything in an efficient gentle patient manner . From the smooth check in pre theatre care easy to order lovely meals .I'm so grateful to have been so well looked after and couldn't recommend the hospital more highly .

A recent visit to St Johns Subiaco left us less than impressed when directly compared with St Johns at Murdoch. If you have the choice GO to MURDOCH , Why you ask ? 1. We arrived at the hospital at 11am as asked , the operation was not until about 6pm, so sitting around all day for nothing . The Doctor commented why did the hospital have you come in so early, its a long drive from mandurah? 2. The Surgery finished at about 8pm and Back to the ward at around 9:30pm to shared room which was a bit of a surprise , given that We had required and paid extra for a private room (wonder if we get that fee back?). 3. Remember now that the patient had not eaten since midnight the day before so coming up on 24 hours of nothing to eat or drink. only to be told that the Kitchen was closed (is it sounding like some where you want to be yet?). 4. The nurs arrange for some what looked like a sandwich from yesterday on a plate with some glad wrap over it and a coffee , Did Not offer the spouse who had sat around waiting all day anything. So the point is that if you want a private room and food from the menu then I suggest SJH Murdoch where the kitchen is open until 10pm and spouses can not only stay are fed and treated with respect, would make a much better choice. The Comparison comes from 2 in hospital stays at each of SJG Murdoch and SJG Subiaco within the same week (different patients , same health fund) St John at Subiaco I find wanting, I am uncertain whether or not its just incompetence on the part of the staff or a policy , but surly with such a late surgery someone must have thought "we have a very late patient coming onto the ward ill order a couple of meals before the kitchen closes. (you know the Motto "Caring is at our Core") I know lets get some uber eats right? Well that's a great thought and best of luck with that try getting into the carpark at that time of night a lovely and insanely expensive carpark it is too, (also not covered by you health insurer). In this instance you would be having to wonder what we went private at all, SJG Subiaco makes the grade as an average Public Hospital but fails miserably as a Private one . Dr K Hirst

4 different nurses on 4 different occasions gave wrong medications. Did not check patient identity. The standard of nursing care in this hospital has markedly decreased and borders at times on incompetent or dangerous. Medical care good. New food ordering system clumsy and inflexible with food generally arriving cold.

I had a c-section and staff were hit a miss! Some nurses awful whilst some so caring. Food was always stuffed up and not what I ordered. I was mostly unimpressed with the level of service needed for this super vulnerable, painful experience of a c section . If your partner stays over night it costs a fortune too. Bed is tiny and so uncomfortable!!
