Great hospital. I have been there for 20 years on and off and the service and medical attention has always been outstanding.

I spent 4 nights at St. VIncents Private. The whole St. Vincents system in Sydney is the best in the city. Clinical care and expertise of doctors truly is gold standard. But surprising were the small colorless rooms and the world’s most awful carpet. Black and grey. I am based in Asia though from Australia and I guess I am used to the super 5-star hospitals found in cities like Bangkok and Hong Kong. The bed settings were so old that the buttons were worn and I could not see the motifs. The soap dispenser in the shower is a plastic machine which collapses each time you push the button for soap! When you are sick enough to be in a hospital overnight then small things are important and quality design and colors make a big difference.

I cannot talk about the Private Hospital only the public hospital at St Vincent’s. I was admitted with a badly fractured ankle due to a motorcycle accident I’m 72 years old and was in the public board for three weeks.
I was treated with the utmost respect. I could not fault any of the treatment I received, and that included from the food cleaning nursing staff and above all the surgeon Dr Tim small.

At Vincent’s hospital is like being in a horror movie. The doctors were rude and rushing and were uncaring and didn’t listen. The nurses just left patients screaming in pain from the next room and said that they had done all they could. There weren’t enough nurses and they were rushing like the doctors. The nurses were not providing adequate care and did insensitive things like follow me into my bathroom in my private room. I couldn’t wait to escape and no one could convince me to go back to that nightmare.

Following open heart surgery and some subsequent breathing difficulties, I spent 12 nights in St Vincent's Private Hospital's cardiac ward. I cannot speak highly enough of all of my care there. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet. Staff made every effort to make me comfortable and were friendly and thoughtful towards my visitors. Food was nutritious, varied and delivered by happy considerate staff on time and warm. As for the medical staff, they were incredible: professional, inspiring complete confidence; painstaking - nothing too much trouble, no matter the hour or their pressure; compassionate and understanding. Nurses took time to get to know me so they could offer best support. Have no hesitation in recommending StVPH. Thank you everyone, so grateful.

If this hospital has employed a doctor named Grace Gifford , who touts herself as a Haematology doctor, they deserve less than one star. Grace Gifford is the most careless and dangerous woman ever to walk around a hospital . She killed my husband , and made several errors leading up to his death , which were the blunders of a novice. The man fought off lukemia, and won only to be punctured in the stomach by Grace Gifford during a routine tap. Not only that, she did a liver biospy and put him on blood thinners after that and the stomach tap . The ICU death certificate confirmed he died of a punctured abdomen. She ignores the advice of senior doctors even infront of patients or relativces. She is a nightmare. She should be a computer programmer, not a doctor. My child grows up without her Father. The Royal North Shore could not wait to get rid of her
