One of the best medical facilities available anywhere. Beats by miles the smugness and preening of main US hospitals, and the money-first reality at any and all medical facilities. In Canada we cannot imagine hospitals owning ambulances that are mainly traps to get the patient only to the particular hospital; ambulances are bound to take patients only to the medical facility they are affiliated with or are owned by. I cannot even adequately articulate my abhorance for the money-first policy of medical centres and of doctors in the entirely shameless and shabby reality of the hellish medical system in country south of us. The number of new medical procedures and successful medical/surgeries initiated at UAH. Edmonton Protocol is one of many of such developments.

â â â â â This place is where my entire life and future was ruined I view this place as a living nightmare a hellish place its an absolute MAD HOUSE LOUD,LOUD forget getting any rest or sleep to get better even with sleeping pills AND ear plugs I was not allowed to rest.It was a revolving door of doctors nurses coming in to talk to me I almost felt like I was bein harrassed not to mention how many times they parked my bed in the back hallways on the way to and from testings they forgot me there left me in the hallways for close to 2 hours !! This place is justHORRIBLE had to stay there a couple times and EVERY TIME MY BODY WAS DESTROYED MORE EACH TIME .I literally was admitted coming in on an ambulance and still had some functioning I was still”me” but nut after some very suspicious”unknown” events that occured there which 12 years later I STILL dont have answers for but I also LEFT THERE BY AMBULANCE bringing me to the glenrose rehabilitation hospital because i was a new HEMIPLEGIC ( completely paralyzed) after what i briefly found out was a “complication” while they were doing a surgery in my brain that I or my family never consented to AND I also had a pulmonary embolism that just about killed me, that should have never happened either….This place just about killed metwice and I was left paralyzed here DONOT GO HERE and yes its alot of student doctors in training and not any that have been here practicing theyre entire careers in Edmonton with alot of experience. There are none of them left sadly because I have always felt the most sincere compassion from the “old originals” i call themð

I have had extremely positive experiences at the U of A. Much better than any experience at my small town hospital, where staff are rude and can’t give me the time of day.

The u of a was the worst place I ever got treatment. The nurses were nasty and not helpful at all. 2017 Feb I destroyed my knee. The ambulance guys waited for them to even see me. I was put in a cast room with no bells or a nurse. When I finally got to me it was in bad shape. I had compartment syndrome and a fashiotome done I was going to lose half of my leg. It was done and I think it was due for the wait time. I had 4 surgery on it 2 in 2 days. If I called for a nurse it was up to an hour before they saw me. I had a straight bar first from ankle to hip.I couldn’t move if I wanted to. When a nurse did show up. What do you want. Now when my bf was there they were a whole lot quicker and nicer. I had a nurse who said 1 morning do you have to go to the washroom. I said no and pointed out the bag for my urine. I helper asked if I would like to wash up and change my gown after a week yeah it seems like a good idea. She got called away and I am half dressed and no way to get back in my bed. I don’t say much about it but it was bad. The curtain between me and the other lady was never opened we talked through it. Her daughter helped me out a few times. No covid then not run off their feet. I couldn’t even see out the door unless going back to surgery. It was the worst I have ever been treated in a hospital.

The triage is a joke. The nurses don’t have a clue about emergency. I realize it’s a busy place but unless you are brought in by ambulance they don’t care about you. First I seen a student doctor who couldn’t find my heart. I assured him I had one. Finally got a nurse who couldn’t find a vein , everything went down hill from there. I hate this place. I was sent home with a infection & no meds to clear it up.
