I had my hip replaced at Union Memorial by Dr Michael Jacobs. The staff was very professional and had good bedside manner.

Misdiagnosed and treated poorly to the degree I was bullied by doctors for advocating for myself to simply get my issue appropriately addressed. Hospital is unsafe in my opinion.

I have had some of the worst experiences in this hospital. I have been misdiagnosed, treated rudely with disrespect, and a lack of sensitivity that is appalling. Many mistakes have been made and the rooms were dirty with used medical supplies on the floor. The Hospitalist was poor, non-communicative, and arrogant. Before leaving, at the end of a week’s stay, he left a list of medications (never discussed with me) that included ones that I didn’t use/need and were not effective. He even substituted a regularly prescribed one. He left the hospital (didn’t answer his cell phone) so that I couldn’t even question his decisions. I told the pharmacy to cancel all but one (4 out of 5). My initial suggested diagnosis was never confirmed. I felt treated like an object. There were some pleasant, efficient nurses, though. I would never revisit this hospital, unless, perhaps, if I had my own approved private affiliated doctor that could oversee my care, making certain that I was treated professionally and safely. Since that is not the case, now, I would avoid Union Memorial, when possible, even in an emergency.

I had total knee replacement surgery twice once in October 2012 and again in August 2013. The staff was phenomenal, patient, cheerful, caring and informative. The food good, hot, extra service when asked and my Doctor is one of the best in the nation. Their follow up and postoperative services are fantastic also. Nice to receive calls regarding my progress after surgery!!
