UC Davis recently performed a pancreatic cancer distal removal of the tail of my pancrease removed my spleen and left adrenal gland. The Drs Nurses and support staff were excellent. My room was very clean. The radiology labs are in older buildings that could use modernizing, but again the Drs and staff are excellent

I have had surgery several times at UC Davis, as have several members of my family. We have always received good treatment by a caring staff. I trust them with my life!

UC Daivs strives to be a good teaching hospital. On occasion I have received excellent care. However, after going there for four years, I have noticed a trend. Women are treated significantly different than men. When I attend appointments by myself, my symptoms are often dismissed or invalidated and chalked up to “being a woman.” When I have taken a male fried for support, the physicians spend the entire time addressing him, even though he routinely reminds them that I am the patient. Additionally, they are a bit thoughtless about their care areas for women. In their mammogram waiting room they only stock beauty magazines for entertainment (what women with breast cancer wants to see “the 50 most beautiful women” when she is about to be carved up?). I have attempted to address these issues with the administration and am routinely told “one bad apple” – despite many, many bad experiences. If you are a women, take an advocate with you to UCD.
