Dangerous Care. Staff shortage and miscommunication with doctors. Old and unclean

Forget about keeping track of a patient who is at Presbyterian. Our friend was life flighted to Presbyterian, we spoke with her for two days, now there is no record of the patient even though we know she is there. The patient told her nurse that her children were not allowed to take possession of her belongings, which were here, and now there is no “record” of her being there. Switchboard is rude and unhelpful. If you keep calling, switchboard keeps hanging up on you.

I spent 2 months at Montefiore with all of my tests done at UPMC Presbyterian and I could not have had better care. I was in 3 other facilities the previous month before coming to Pittsburgh. I had the greatest surgeon and gastroenterologist, and I would not be here today if it weren't for these two accomplished physicians! They never gave up on me. The nursing staff were wonderful and very supportive, and the rehab people were super! I even enjoyed the student teams who visited me 5 days a week. All in all, in spite of all I was going through, I am totally impressed with the care I received.

Went to UPMC's Shadyside General Internal Medicine office for a general yearly physical. Fine doctors, good facilities, but there's a 139.00 'facility fee' for just walking through the door. My insurance was good at paying for all the lab fees, but would only cover 50% of the 'facility fee'. The moral of this story: this is a very expensive place to visit.
