I came to Villa Caritas for a 6 wk psychitric assessment - voluntarily. My psychiatrist didn't want me going back to my home town so he kept me for a total of seven months. I had nobody to speak for me (except for the third fl. unit manager who helped when things went sideways.) The psychiatric nursing staff are too busy when you have a problem. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. I am glad for the patients I met. Some were very kind. Otherwise I think this place needs a review. I paid for my own telephone counselling; there was absolutely no one to counsel me. THEY SAID THEY HAVE ONLY ONE PSYCHOTHERAPIST FOR the 120 patients. Villa Caritas could use alot of improvement. It includes patients with depression, anxiety, severe grief, schizophrenia, dementia, etc. TO ME THIS PLACE IS A JOKE TO THOSE WITH NO FAMILY TO SPEAK FOR THEM.

My dad was sent to VC for a 2 to 4 week “ASSESSMENT ” and he never left there alive. I saw him 4 days after he got there and knew something was wrong. My dad was in a LTC facility for 8.5 years. They were having problems when it came time to his personal care for the last year of his life. In every other way he was still the kind man he always was
The dementia changed my father to become aggressive but ONLY during personal care time. I don’t believe the çareaids in my dad’s dementia ward knew how to look after dementia patients. Anyway… my brother wanted to see his medication list and the home decided they would send dad out for assessment which I now believe is code word for drug [LOXAPINE] which is NEVER to be given to elderly dementia patients. It will shut down all their vital organs. My dad must have been a bit tougher because he lasted longer than 2 to 4 weeks. He wasn’t close to dying when he went in there. Also check to see if your LO has water. Looking at videos I took there was NEVER water but I did see those sponges on a stick. I believe that was another way to kill him. He was so dehydrated on his death bed. His tongue was parched like dry soil with no rain for weeks. I took a picture of his tongue as I never seen anything like that before. The last day in that death facility they managed to give my dad LOXAPINE but everything else they didn’t for whatever reason. Please see what drug they have your LO on. Look up the effects. Look to see if they have water. My dad was strapped into that awful looking Frankenstein wheel chair that strapped him in by the legs. They said it was so he didn’t fall. Dad never fell out of his wheel chair before. But….LOXAPINE makes you unstable so you could fall. I should have called 911 to get my dad out of there. I trusted that Dr. My dad was on the first floor ward. His hall had a sign that said blue. I’m sure that stands for something. I feel my dad was an experiment. The last day I saw my dad alive in that facility I saw 3 other patients in that same Frankenstein chair. Are they going to die too? I’m literally shattered over what happened to my dad and what i believe goes on there. I believe he suffered terribly. I was told he aspirated and the fluid caused a blood infection on top of everything else. Which tells me no one was there to suction him. He also had pneumonia. I do not even want to give this place a 1 star rating.

An evil place experimenting and using drugs on sick, defiant or traumatized people with different issues. Stealing clothing and ornamental possessions. Cold hearted physicians rarely about.

Patients are left unshaven, greasy hair, bum rash because nursing staff are too lazy to clean them properly .

It’s just horrific shame for a senior citizens to be forcibly removed from her home and incarcerated by no fault of their own and sent to a place as this and placed in a room with only a old hospital bed and a small dresser basically dehumanizing them.
Plus giving family lip service trying to make them believe all is well and is for their own good.
I just can’t see how this is inclusive to mental wellness. Also the doctors there basically can take away the patients rights and the families who have power of attorney and do what they see neccessary under this emergency mental act

I have been trying to get answers about my mothers transfer to a local care centre as she is currently 2 hours away from me. They keep phoning me and telling me that she will be transferred that day, 4 times now and it never happened yet!! If you talk to more then one person there everyone has a different answer as to why she hasn’t been transferred. Absolutely a great doctor but the rest of the staff are a bunch of puppets. Nobody has a clue what is going on there, I’m truly scared for my mom!! Not sure what to do??
