Had Knee Surgery late 2022. Meals where atrocious and i had one decent meal of sausages during my 3 night stay. I feel i was way overcharged for my stay and care and was expecting quite a large refund from the $27,700.00 deposit i paid. I was told aprox cost for 4 night stay was around 24k but they asked for the 27k amount to cover incase i stayed more than 4 nights. After only staying 3 nights one would realistically expect quite a sizable refund. They gave me $255.00 then another $440.00 when we complained. As I had no insurance I paid for this from savings and my credit card. I was hoping that a sizable refund would help pay off some of my Visa dept. I found out after my surgery that Bowen Hospital and Southern Cross were at least 6 to 7k cheaper. To say I’m a disgusted would be an understatement. I will be taking this to the HDC for them to look into.

I will cancel my planned operation for next week as I got the information that the scheduled anaesthetist for my operation will attend a wedding in South Auckland this weekend. As no tests are needed for patients and doctors, this is a great risk and should be handled differently.

Could not recommend more highly. I never felt rushed or uncertain about what was happening. The hospital cleaners should be proud of the job they do!

Dr Seidenfaden should be prevented from further practising given the latest occurrence.

Excellent hospital for specialists, state of the art theatres and hospital care. Also ease of getting an appointment.
