📋Overview
Amblyopia, commonly known as 'lazy eye,' is a neurodevelopmental vision disorder characterized by reduced visual acuity in one or both eyes that is not correctable by glasses or contact lenses and is not caused by any structural eye abnormality. It results from abnormal visual experience during early childhood, leading to impaired visual development in the brain. The modern preferred term remains 'amblyopia.'
