📋Overview
Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a common vaginal condition characterized by an imbalance in the normal vaginal bacterial flora, with a reduction in lactobacilli and an overgrowth of anaerobic bacteria. It is the most frequent cause of vaginal discharge in women of reproductive age. BV is not considered a classic infection but rather a dysbiosis of the vaginal microbiome.
