Buerger's Disease, clinically known as thromboangiitis obliterans, is a rare vascular disorder characterized by the inflammation and swelling of small and medium-sized arteries and veins. This condition primarily affects the limbs, where blood vessels may become narrowed or blocked by blood clots, reducing blood flow to the hands and feet.
The condition occurs most commonly in young to middle-aged adults and is strongly linked to the use of tobacco products, including cigarettes and chewing tobacco. As the vessels become obstructed, the lack of oxygenated blood can lead to pain and localized tissue damage in the affected areas.
