๐Overview
Coronary Artery Disease, also known as ischemic heart disease, involves the narrowing or blockage of the arteries that supply blood to the heart. This condition typically occurs due to atherosclerosis, a process where plaque builds up on the inner walls of these vessels, gradually restricting blood flow.
Over time, the reduced delivery of oxygen and nutrients may impede the heart muscle from functioning optimally, particularly during periods of increased demand. This clinical state is often characterized by the progressive hardening and inflammation of the arterial system.
