๐Overview
Diabetic Kidney Disease (DKD), also known as diabetic nephropathy, is a common complication of diabetes mellitus characterized by progressive damage to the kidneys' filtering units (glomeruli). It is the leading cause of chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease worldwide. DKD develops due to long-term high blood sugar levels causing structural and functional changes in the kidneys.
