๐Overview
Gastrinoma is a type of neuroendocrine tumor that secretes excessive amounts of gastrin, a hormone that stimulates gastric acid production. It is the main cause of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (ZES), characterized by severe peptic ulcers and gastric acid hypersecretion. Gastrinomas most commonly arise in the pancreas or duodenum. The condition is often sporadic but can be associated with multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) syndrome.
