๐Overview
Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a form of glucose intolerance first recognized during pregnancy. It is a legacy term that specifically refers to diabetes diagnosed during pregnancy that is not clearly overt diabetes prior to gestation. The modern preferred term remains gestational diabetes. It typically resolves after delivery but requires careful management to reduce risks to both mother and baby.
