Immunoblastic lymphadenopathy is a legacy term historically used to describe a condition characterized by widespread lymph node enlargement with proliferation of immunoblasts, now recognized as part of the spectrum of certain lymphoproliferative disorders. The modern preferred terms include various types of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, particularly immunoblastic lymphoma, a subtype of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. This condition involves malignant proliferation of large transformed lymphocytes (immunoblasts) primarily affecting lymph nodes.
