Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) is a rare, progressive lung disease characterized by abnormal growth of smooth muscle-like cells (LAM cells) leading to cystic lung destruction. It primarily affects women, especially of childbearing age. LAM can occur sporadically or in association with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC).
