๐Overview
Miscarriage, also referred to by the clinical term spontaneous abortion, is a common event that occurs during the early stages of pregnancy. This condition involves the natural termination of a pregnancy before the fetus is viable. Most miscarriages occur because the fetus is not developing normally. Approximately 50 percent of miscarriages are associated with extra or missing chromosomes. These chromosome problems usually result from errors that occur by chance as the embryo divides and grows, rather than being inherited from the parents.
